We arrived in Bali a few days ago all good first 2 days then yesterday I noticed HR up. Got an episode of AF a week before we left and was cardioverted. Now on Metropolol 20mg and Flecainide since CV and titration down from 50mg to 30mg till my 1 month appointment. Back on Apixaban as well.
HR before we left was between 55-60 at rest and similar first 2 days in Bali. Now day 3 it’s 70-78 at rest…. not slept the best, I joined in a yoga and breathing class for a couple of days. I’ve checked my Apple Watch and no AF though I’ve been feeling some ectopics…. any ideas good people what’s going on, is it the heat, change of diet?

I’ve usually found my resting HR to rise for a few days when I move to a warmer climate (home is UK) as I acclimatise. However this would be immediate whereas yours was initially no change. Higher HR often means your body is under a little stress, maybe you have picked up a virus or change of water / food having an impact? Possibly change in meds taking a while to have an impact though they usually lower? Hope it settles soon and you get to relax on holiday.
Let us know if it settles or you establish a cause.
I would agree with Speed. I think something as innocuous as a change in the water can upset my system but my body often adjusts if you take enough rest and keep well hydrated and avoid all the usual triggers. Differences in climate certainly do.
Enjoy your holiday and try forget about it and trust and listen to your body over your gadgets! If you tune in then your internal computer will let you know if there is anything seriously amiss.
It took 2 days for my heart to react to the 34c heat on holiday recently. I started to have high HR and swollen legs that required treatment so do keep an eye on symptoms… and enjoy your hols too!
I'd be so excited about going to Bali my heart rate would be up too. I don't think a rate of 70-78 at rest will harm you. Are you drinking alcohol, because that's a very common culprit.
Enjoy your holiday, but as you've fairly recently had a cardioversion try not to over exert yourself too much.
yes I’m sure it’s a combo of excitement 32 deg heat, eating more food than normal and the belly ache that follows. I’ve decided to give alcohol a miss… my wife has more than made up for it 😁
My first thought after reading your post is that just a basic change in your overall scenery is causing your slightly raised heart rate -- different environment, food, weather, people, "vibe" of your whole surroundings. Your adrenaline is probably taking it all in and acting accordingly.
