Royal Papworth experience anyone?

Has anyone had an ablation at Royal Papworth and can tell me what to expect? I had my first at Barts in London 7 years ago but it went horribly wrong, leaving me with a hole in my heart and a paralysed lung. Both of which haven't healed. This is why its taken me so long to pluck up the courage to go for the 2nd ablation. My quality of life has been seriously diminished since the first one and I just want some sort of life back but I'm so scared!

Had cryoablation in June and cardioversion in August. Treatment was faultless, general staff very welcoming and caring.

royal Papworth are world renowned, I’ve had 3 ablations done there. Their treatment and after care were great. Good luck

Papworth is one of the best heart hospitals in the country. They are truly superb. Their facilities are like a private hospital and their EPs all informed, kind and open to loads of questions. Their arrhythmia nurses are superb and quick to reply and reassure. Better still they work closely with Addenbrookes next door so if you have to go there ( I was in A&E recently) they all work together. My local hospital gets all precious if I suggest they consult with Papworth.

For the record since 2020 I've had one cardioversion there and four ablations so I know a little bit about the place 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The staff all love working there and speak highly of it too.

No! I'm not getting paid for this review 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've been a regular at Papworth for a few years.I had a couple of visits to the old converted barracks but the new hospital next door to Addenbrookes is fantastic. I have no reason to complain about my treatments there. They have a group of arrhythmia specialist nurses who you can contact by email and phone to ask questions and get advice. The electrophysiologists are first rate and have always looked after me very well. The only problem now is the length of the waiting lists but that's the same all throughout the NHS.

Edit. I see someone has already mentioned the arrhythmia nurses.

I had one 9 months ago. Great experience compared to a couple of earlier ones at other hospitals . Staff were terrific. The new procedure was quick, in in early morning and out mid to late afternoon. It worked just fine and life is good!
