Hi Len. The reports about Papworth and PFA are very good. This is the route I would likely take. I have been in contact with the doctor there and he said get rereferred by your GP and I'll do it. I forget the guys name now but if you call Papworth they point you in the right direction. If not I have email contact etc and can pass this on - it will take some time though going back through my emails so try calling the hospital first.

Had cardioversion there with Patrick Heck last June and was very happy with everything. I expect I will need ablation as they said if AF recurred to go back for it. Best of luck and let us know how you found it.

Cryo with Dr Begley; two RFs with Dr Mellor. Plus consultations with Dr Finn and Dr Agawar. Friend sees Dr Heck. All very approachable and very good. 👍

Will you consider a pulse field ablation?

If it was offered, definitely. Currently probably having an ablation for just atypical atrial flutter, not sure what that will be, tbh

I had an ablation done by Dr Finn at Papworth, he is excellent and 6 years later I am still ok so it worked.

If l had to have this procedure, it would be the place l would choose to be, Papworth. It’s the finest heart hospital in the country. All the best.

I had Dr Virdee RE ablation for AF 6 years ago no AF since although I have a slight Flutter occasionally which doesn’t bother me. I take a low dose now 50g Flecenaide twice a day but feel I could just have pill in pocket instead. He was very good.

I concur, Dr Virdee was excellent. I had 2 ablations with him one for AF in 2017 and one for Flutter 2019. I am also on Felcainide 50mg twice per day since April 2023 and that has proved to be very successful. Papworth is the place to go as it is very new with all the latest equipment.
