Hi everyone,I'm 1 day post op from having a carto ablation, even though the meds seemed to be managing my AF pretty well, I felt sure I wanted the chance of getting back into sinus rhythm
The EP said the procedure went well and their were no complications, he also said that the previous ablated areas had healed and they basically re-ablated those same areas!
Unfortunately I didn't get much time to question him but thought about it afterwards and wondered if this is common?
I am not having a follow up appt until Jan so have got plenty of time to research.
Very early days but feeling positive
Thanks for listening

mmm, does sound unusual . I had my 3rd ablation this year and they assessed the previous ablated veins , found they were successfully healed so moved on to other areas , namely roof and back wall of heart and venae cava . Wishing you well with your recovery .
I'm waiting for the report to come through so maybe that will tell me a bit more? The EP said the procedure went well with no complications and I feel well today so I suppose i should focus on that and hopefully I can stay in sinus rhythm for a long time.
well, it was only May of this year , so early days . Sadly due to my anatomy the EP couldn’t fully ablate the superior vena cava as it ran very close to both the phrenic nerve and sino atrial node . He did 75 % so 25 % remains unablated and a risk of triggering AF in the future. With that in mind he wants me to stay on the dronedarone longer term . I wasn’t happy about that but have at least dropped the beta blocker .
I'm having to stay on the amiodarone until my follow up in Jan and also a beta blocker (Bisoprolol) although my heart rate had dropped to 50 which happened after the last ablation.Good luck with everything and hope it works out
Good Morning, Great news to share with the Members of the Forum!
I am pleased the procedure was a success and I hope your recovery continues well. You may be interested in downloading our; Recovering from an Ablation information sheet, many are unaware of possible side effects during the early weeks following the procedure.
