Recovery from PFA was much easier than previous methods..

Still in normal sinus rhythm at the 6 month point., No wobbles but very occasional PVCs for a few seconds. Fitness better than before (nothing too taxing, walking, swimming & gentle pilates) consequently mentally in a much better place!

Thanks to all for encouragement prior to procedure.

If it's of interest will update again in a few months. Hopefully it will be short & sweet with nothing new to add....

great news. What ablation you had previously? Was the PFA much quicker to perform?

Sorry for delay, been on holiday which includes break from phone!. I have now had all 3 methods of ablation. Both of the first 2 were lengthy due to the complexity of my situation (upwards of 4 hrs each). The latest one was done & dusted in 90 mins, left hospital after 3 hours.

No probs. I’ve had 2. Cryo and rf. both didn’t do the job. They want to do 1 more rf on me. I’m thinking of holding out till my ep does the PFA type ???

Tough call. I'd guess it depends if you have bouts or are in permanent AF. I was in permanent for a year and my EP basically gave up & said no more Abs, now it's rate vs rhythm....I happened to have to move because of work & lucked in to an EP who suggested a PFA & here I am.....Good luck whatever you decide.

That's good news to hear and will give hope to others awaiting a PFA (Pulsed Field Ablation).

How lovely that you are now re-energised and can do so much more than before the procedure. Hmm feel a tad envious. 😊

So positive to hear news like this. At the moment I’m in sinus but looking to do PFA should things change. From what I hear they have updated the technology of the PFA catheter a couple of times since it was introduced a couple of years ago. We have just returned from 5 weeks in Greece to a cold Sydney!

That's great. Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) is the way to go for an afib ablation. Shorter procedure, quicker recovery and less operator dependent with similar results to RF and Cryo and arguably fewer serious complications., and keep in mind that we're only on the earlier generations of PFA technology, so even though it's as good as anything out there now it can only get better.
