I’ve recently been started on flecanide, originally on bisoprolol, I have had a significant weight gain in around 8 weeks, has anyone else experienced this ?

I was on flecanide for over a year but didn't notice a weight gain.

I was on Flecainide for a number of years with no issues with weight gain.

I have been on Flecainide for 11 yrs, no weight gain. However, in the last around 6 months I have put on half a stone, a bit of a puzzle as not much has changed, probably just some poor diet choices & snacking on biscuits.

Not me! I started taking Flecainide as a Pip and as episodes increased, 50mg twice daily, and then 100mg twice daily. As I was fine on the day I forgot the first pill, I suggested I try having just 50mg first and a doc I have never met at the surgery agreed to let me try that so that’s what I’m doing and it’s been fine so far. Though no weight gain, my digestion has been messed up and I do seem to have a rather bloated abdomen which might have improved with the reduction in Flecainide. Do give up the biscuits! I snack on nuts - almonds, walnuts, but just a few if a meal is delayed- I no longer do the cooking, relying on my husband, as I developed chronic fatigue along with the PAF following a virus when I couldn’t get an appointment at our surgery when an antiviral might have saved me from both!

I think everyone is different in this regard, but I gained weight too when I was on Flecainide. No amount of exercise or dieting helped! When my new EP finally switched me to another med, I dropped down to my normal weight again.

I have definitely had a significant weight gain on Flecainide too. I am a slim build and exercise regularly but it has not prevented me gaining more than half a stone which is proving almost impossible to get off again. I also find that no matter how hard I work out my heart rate does not increase to the rate it used to go up to and I am guessing the two are not unrelated 🤦‍♀️

Yes I eat a healthy diet, reasonably active , just as before starting flecanide, but for some reason the weight come on quickly and I can’t shift it
