All I can suggest you do is to go online and search for CoQ10 ........ you'll get shedloads of info. I've been taking it for best part of 13 years as an offset to statins I am taking and also a heap of other drugs which related to heart and AF.

Most normal folk have adequate quantities of CoQ10 naturally but age and ill health can deplete this and need a boost. It operates at a cellular level in the body and energy levels but I'm afraid I am not skilled enough to discuss this.

Thank you. I don’t take statins but hopefully it will protect my heart.

Hi similar to BenHall1 my husband started taking Co-q10 about 10 years ago also to offset statin then carried on with Co-q10 after stopping statins more for general heart protection/energy.

Best source for a (slightly dated) list of research papers for me is Dr Stephen Sinatra’s book “metabolic cardiology”. He also dedicated 1/4 or 1/3 of his book to explaining the mechanisms of co-q10.

I understand CoQ10 is beneficial for a variety of mature age issues, so when my Naturopath suggested it in partnership with a magnesium compound I started it and have taken it for 11 years. He also believes your level should be at the top of the normal range if not higher! Simple blood test to check your level.

Do you feel better for taking it?

Can only say I have taken it for 11 yrs and no known side effects nor any new chronic issues. I test different supplements quite frequently so it is difficult to pinpoint one and its effects.

Latest news: Over the last year I reduced the Mg compound (includes taurine & more) and the CoQ10, the latter because I was way way over the guide upper limit. I subsequently developed not debilitating AF as I used to know it but uncomfortable missed & rapid beats. I have therefore restarted both supplements and in the last week the irregularities seem to be disappearing. Early days yet though!

Thank you so much. Certainly my heart rate has been completely steady since I have taken it. Magnesium Taurate also calms down my heart.
