Post aura migraine aura????

Another weird syptom after the ablation on Tuesday. I have had an aura lasting 15 minutes almost every day since then. I normally have occasional auras with no headaches, but these are more frequent. Anybody else with similar symptoms and how long did they last?

This side effect is often mentioned. Seems to go as the septum hole heals.

I had those when I had a hot shower in the morning, after my ablation. I turned the temp down & they stopped.

Never had a migraine in my life (nearly 60) until the week after my first AF ablation. Started with aura (a pulsing, pixelated arc generally in left of eye / both eyes) and occasionally leading to headache for up to an hour. From daily, then every other day quickly dropped to weekly then nothing after a month.

Supporting the theory it relates to the puncturing and healing of the septum, neither of my AFlutter ablations (typical right sided) resulted in either type of migraine.

Now a distant memory after 2 months.

Yep, I had them after all 3 of my ablations. The fact sheet from the hospital doesn't mention it at all and nor did any of the medical staff but the fact sheet written by patients is very helpful.

I had aura migraines following my ablation every single day. I also woke up in the night with them, awful sensation, it was like looking through a kaleidoscope that gradually got bigger, then the headache came like pressure on top of my head. These miraculously stopped at around 10 days as BobD said they would once the transeptal puncture healed. That was back in March, no more since. I am sure they will stop but they don't warn you about this side effect

Still get them 18 months after OHS with ablation.

Wondering if thats what I had post ablation.............a feeling of extreme heat from feet up to head and then everything turning white!!!!! Cardiologist said this was the same as a black out and was concerned that I would fall if going down stairs, across the road etc.etc., heart beat too low and now I ware a trusty Pacemaker, no more whiteouts as I called them. Had a couple of TIA's and stroke doctor said they could also be migraines, I would know exactly what I wanted to say and then spoke utter garbage.......so embarrassing, all I could do was laugh....weird or what lol. As for it being quite normal, never advised of this by anyone even the expert who did the ablation.

Within 2 weeks of my ablation in 2022 I started having migraines 24/7. NO aura. The only thing that helped me was getting 10 nerve block shots in my head for the next 15 months. I do not want another ablation.

I've been getting painless migraine auras almost daily for about 40 years. They are kind of pretty, last no longer than 20 minutes, and its kind of amazing that the brain produces them. Other than the blind spot where the auras are, I don't think twice about them, though I did worry about them until an unconcerned doctor explained what they are. Since yours are from an ablation, they will probably go away over time. Don't worry, be happy! You made it through an ablation, yay!

do you have any treatment for yor auras. I am getting them about once a month, they worry the hell out of me. Even though neurologist just advice paracetamol, I also have glaucoma, and worry about that as well,,

In 2016 I had my first aura migraine 2 days before being rushed into A&E with pneumonia and my first bout of AF. I've had them intermittently ever since. So no connection with ablation because I've not had one, and I can't blame the flecainide I've taken for 8 years from 2016 to Nov 2023 because I've had several since it was stopped.I'm currently awaiting a mitral valve replacement in a couple of weeks time which will involve punching through from the right atrium to the left, so we'll see what effect that has on the auras, and whether I have the rare multicolour ones or the monochrome diamonds!

Suffered migraine with aura at day 4 after ablation followed by continued auras in diminished intensity on day 6, 9, 13, 16 and then it stopped.
