Hi team AFibbers, pigley here otherwise known as Rachel.
Still AFIb free 🙏 since March since making big lifestyle changes.
I’ve had a few episodes of migraine with aura during exercise. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? Heart rate can be low 40/50 & wondering if exertion brining it on with rapid HR change. I’ve not had migraines for years. I’ve let cardiologist know.
Thanks

Migraine aura is a common side effect of ablation and caused by the transpetal puncture where they go from right to left atria but usually fades after a few weeks.
Have you had any echocardiograms which might show up any such abnormalities.? Many people have undetected holes and it may be that the extra effort is exacerbating an existing problem . Remember to only exercise to the point where you can do it and talk at the same time.
Hi, I had ablation done in March and had migraine aura after a few days but nothing since. Get a few headaches but just try to drink more and have the odd paracetamol . Great that your still afib free. 😊
Thanks everyone. I’ve not had ablation yet. I already have a hole closed 18 years ago. I’m thinking my HRT may need altering. CD my sats good new Apple 6 monitors it but I’ve not done it exercising. I run 20k a week & swim 2-3 mile so I’m used to exercising 🤷🏼♀️
I've had PAF since 1996 and not had an ablation. Over that period have had many aura migraines but not on a regular basis. Nothing related to exercise or anything in particular, even woke up one night with the problem. Perhaps another example of how we're all different.
With aura migraines I only sometimes get a very mild headache but do not require any meds for it.
Strangely enough I experienced an optical aura yesterday, no headache only bright light vision at edges. Only started since TIA 3 years ago and fairly infrequently, I always seem to have them after entering areas of artificial lighting or very bright sunshine after looking down or moving from a darker area, they seem to last about 20 minutes or so ....
I get those several times a year and certainly had them after my very successful ablation three years ago. I take a couple of paracetamol straight away and lie down for twenty minutes and it usually stops and avoids a rotten headache. I do feel a bit weary after it though. It is often associated with stress but not always. It doesn’t seem to have an exercise link.
I started getting aura migraines when exercising, a few years ago. Reading up on them led me to try supplementing a little magnesium (mag glycinate). Seemed to work !
