Post-Ablation Migraine Patterns?

willec49 profile image

I am two weeks post Cyroablation and have had at least one and sometimes more migraines with aura almost every day. Then they stopped for nearly three days and I thought it was over but for the past two days they returned. Any insights or experiences to share into how these patterns can play out? Thank you

I had an ablation done in feb this year. I had migraines for 4 weeks after then they went. All good now and feel great apart from the odd skip in my heart from time to time.

Thanks for your reply. Glad to hear yours finally resolved. I'm hoping for the same happy ending. All the best.

My Cryoablation was PVI thru septum. Were all different so there will be varying recovery times! Mine subsided after 4/6 weeks. A trigger for my aura was very bright sunlight- I opted to wear sunglasses especially on the golf course to lessen the aura/wavy patterns.

Yeah I had a few migraines 1-3 weeks after ablation. I’d never had them before - nor since. AF gone now too, fingers crossed - for you as well.

Congratulations on your freedom from the AF and the migraines. Yes, I am hopeful that I am headed in the same direction. Thanks and all the best.

Good morning,

If you are experiencing severe headaches and are on anticoagulants, you need to have an MRI in case subjural haematomas have occurred. After my first ablation, I stated to experience level 10 headaches lasting 14 hours daily. After 2 months of hell, two subjural haematomas were eventually diagnosed. It took another 7 months to clear the damn things conservatively. My GP was not much help and my electrophysiologist found it difficult to believe.

Good luck,

Maxim.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that you had that difficult experience. Luckily, my headaches aren't usually too bad, just the crazy disorientation of the auras and a sensitive head for a couple of days. It even effects my vision the day after in weird ways sometimes. i hope they are beginning to sputter out. Thank you for your reply.

I had this for 2 weeks until the hole had healed up. Got 2 or 3 most days though mainly the aura but not the headache.Good luck they will go eventually

Thank you. I appreciate your sharing your experience. I am two weeks and two days past and still having them but maybe they are beginning to space out. I had nearly three days with none, then two days with episodes, then yesterday free, and then one today. So will roll with it and see how it turns out.

Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, I had accessed and printed out the pre and post-ablation fact sheets. As this is my first (and hopefully last) time through this drill, I am curious about what others have and are experiencing regarding the migraines. Apparently mine are not quite ready to finish yet.

After my ablation, I had migraine with aura the day after my procedure and then every other day after that for about 3 weeks. The migraines/aura were reduced in intensity as the 3 weeks past.

Thanks for your reply. I'm happy to hear that the intensity decreased and that they did stop. All good health to you!
