Hi all, I’m having loads of ectopic beats since yesterday and it’s really worrying me, a month ago I reduced my Bisoprolol to 1.25, I’m wondering if it would be okay to take another 1.25 today to try to calm these ectopics. Pulse rate is staying stable and not flying too high. My OH is away so I feel a bit unsure what to do.

Can I take an extra Bisoprolol
Try the slow deep, breathing which works so well in stopping ectopics. Use stomach (diaphragm) not shoulders and slow to less than six breaths per minute for at least five minutes.
It depends where the ectopics are generated from, if it’s from the lower chambers (ventricles) then no matter what breathing exercises you do will not stop them, the only thing that stopped mine was Flecainide, mine was multifocal absolutely ruined my life, thankfully Flecainide worked a miracle or next stage would of been an ablation
Obviously we can't advise you what medication to take. However I have been advised to take Bisoprolol as and when (pill in pocket ) up to 10 mg in 24 hours. 1.2mg is a very small dose. If you've been on a higher dose then you know what you can tolerate.
If you are self medicating then thats your choice, however if it was me now having done that in the past and found myself in trouble, I would check what you take, how much you take and when you take with your cardiologist or cardiac specialist nurse technician.
I started with ectopic beats every day and doc told me to take 2 x 1.25 Bisoprolol every morning. I’ve not had a problem since
like others have said slow controlled breathing through your nose. Do it throughout the day for about 5 minutes. I also found that I was low in vitamin D and after about 6 months of supplementing at 2000iu a day only on rare occasions do I get ectopics and that’s only when I’ve eaten too quickly. I used to get them for hours and on one occasion 3 days. Make sure you check your blood levels and should also check for magnesium and coq10 deficiency before you supplement and also discuss as I did with Cardiologist
I get just this and it is a very difficult condition to deal with at times. Bob is lucky that breathing exercises help him, sadly, they don't touch my ectopics. It is the way to go, first, though - for sure.
I was told that I can increase my bisoprolol to see if it would help but to keep an eye on my heart rate. It seems to me that unless bisoprolol causes an overly-low heart rate, it is considered to be a safe drug to adjust the dosage to suit up to 5mg a day, in my case - but this needs to be your own doctor's view, of course, as it is a potent drug and your heart and health will be different.
I used to take 1.25mg as needed, then that became a daily dose, recently I went to 2.5mg as needed, then then that became a daily dose! I am now trying to go back to 1.25mg because of the low heart rate and blood pressure drop the 2.5mg might be causing as my symptoms have worsened recently.

Hi
I took 2.5 and then tried 1.25 but this did not work.
No problem with the increase as you have had it prior.
