I am now 10 weeks post catheter ablation.Following the procedure I developed aura migraines daily for around 10 days. The fact sheets explained that this was a possible complication and should rectify itself, which it did and 🤞 I have not had any migraines since.
I have now developed a bloodshot patch in the outer corner of my left eye and some difficulty with blurry vision in the right eye. My annual scheduled eye test has confirmed episcleritis in the left eye and some fluid in the macular of the right eye and I have been referred to the eye hospital for an urgent appointment which is taking place next Saturday.
I have previously been a long term patient for prednisolone (I had polymyalgia) and finally came off the steroids in January this year. As I am experiencing some body aches my GP is testing my ESR, CRP (inflammation markers) and ANA and rheumatoid factor to test for autoimmune conditions which can cause inflammation.
Had anyone else had any eye problems following catheter ablation of do you wise people think this is just a coincidence?
Thanks
Karen

I would think it difficult to say, however, my own experience of catheter ablation resulted in an exacerbation of autoimmune disease through I believe an inflammatory response so I think you are correct to question but not sure you will receive confirmation.
Thanks Bob, but I have the eye problems and previous polymyalgia but nothing else other than the afib which has been ablated. What are you referring to with 'multiple health issues'? My polymyalgia has gone as far as I am aware. Thanks
Hi. I had two aura migraines one the day after and one a few weeks after ablation. I don’t really have any other conditions to speak of so I feel they are related to the ablation. Anyway after 5 months I am back in AF so back to cardioversion and trying different drugs. Grrrr
I had aura migraines every day for 10 days but they have stopped now! So sorry you have AF back, was this your first ablation and were you paroxysmal?
I am still on Sotalol and coming up the end of the blanking period. I had one strange episode last Sunday following a cup of strong coffee late at night but my heart was regular and I just felt as if I was in afib ...but maybe I wasn't and it was just the coffee!
Will you go for another ablation? It is not something I would want to repeat but then again when I remind myself how I feel when I get a 36 hour long episode it changes my thoughts
