No, never ever.

Nor me, with any of my four jabs, but I've only just turned 60. I have AF with no co-morbidities.

Are you weighing up whether to get another booster?

Within a month of catching Covid last year, I entered persistent AF (having been paroxysmal for 10yrs).

Most recently, in autumn 2023, I was trying to decide whether it was risky to get the latest booster while in persistent AF. The statistic that persuaded me was the % risk of a blood clot from the jab (minuscule) compared to the risk of a clot if I caught Covid again (I think the figure I saw was that 20% of people admitted to hospital with Covid have blood clots). For me, it was a no-brainer.

I'm not eligible for the spring booster on the NHS. If I were, I'd go and get it.

This subject has been talked to death on this forum. Some say they had no problems with AF after having a Covid job and others say they did.

Each of the three jabs I had set my AF off.

Not after a vaccine, no. But getting Covid (the infection) certainly did. I recovered quickly from relatively “mild” Covid but the impact on my AF carried on. Weigh up your risks. I have not had a vaccine since I had Covid so I don’t know how I will react to the next one in the Autumn, which I will take. Remember, it’s about managing your risks from Covid and to what extent the vaccine will protect you from severity or adverse events.

Had 8 now although wasn't going to have 8th then did!! Never a bad reaction.

No reaction. I've had all offered. Lost count of how many.

Hi, yes! I had my first AstraZeneca jab and within three hours I was in AF. As far as I’m concerned the jab caused my AF. Never had AF before. Fine with 2nd jab, problem again with 3rd jab. No more for me….

As has been said it’s a very regular topic-so you might want to search for previous threads as well… ultimately you’ve got to make your own mind up whether catching Covid is potentially worse than possible vaccine side effects, based on your age, general health and medical history (most people already have fixed views on the subject I believe) - personally I have had all the vaccines I’ve been offered. I also suspect that people who have a negative reaction which they think is related to the vaccine are more likely to comment in these debates than those that are fine with it… but that’s just my opinion 😊

No, but I was one of apparently 2 percent if people who had an allergic reaction to the last booster jab! I’ve had all offered and when I did get covid (with no other symptoms but a positive test), it did bring on an episode which was ended in a few hours with another Flecainide.

no problems with jab. Had 6, the last of which was 6 days ago. Covid itself seemingly triggered a run of episodes though, which my cardiologist said was quite common.

I have AF but no episodes for 2 years, however do get palpitations and ectopic beats. I had the Phziser vaccine for the first time last year and it sent these into overdrive. Improved after about 4 months. I had a booster a month ago, Moderna this time, which has caused some ectopics but not as bad as the Phziser. I have Yellow Flagged it an have a cardio review on Monday, so hopefully can find out more.

I have had NONE since any of my five jabs!

No - none whatsoever. I did approach the last booster with more trepidation thanks to the negative comments from two anti-vaxxers on my FB threads, but I thankfully realised that my emotion was beginning to overrule my head, stopped that in its tracks and went ahead anyway. ;-)

Considering I should have been facing a winter of severe illness or death a few years ago I think I’m doing pretty well 😀

I did have what I believe was Covid as unusually I lost smell and taste(I didn’t test) but I felt fine within 24 hours 🤷‍♂️

Covid set off my afib. The jabs did not.

No adverse reactions for me from the jab. It does not contain the virus, only a similar thing that triggers the immune system to produce antibodies to the real virus. Slight discomfort from having an injection in my shoulder muscle. That could be down to the Apixaban though. I think I've had about 8 jabs now. I'm 81.

Certainly safer than having Covid which took my friend over a year to recover properly from. And he is in his 40's and does not have a heart condition. Said he thought he was going to die.

All the best.

Just curious - if it has been proven to be ineffective, why get one? Why risk it? My dad's doctor told him to not get one because of his heart issues. I also have a friend who had all of them - and then took the last one and it put her into sepsis. Thankfully, she survived, but she knew it was from the jab. Your decision, but efficacy doesn't prove effectiveness. JMO.

I am curious as to how it caused sepsis, haven't heard that one before, can you enlighten us please.

Seriouslycurious profile image
Seriouslycurious in reply toGfern

There have been many cases of it, but what happened to my friend is that it gave her 3 days of diarrhea and then stopped her up for, literally, months. She struggled each day to evacuate her bowels, taking so much medication. She finally, unknowingly to her, fell - luckily when friends were present. When she fell and they put her in the hospital, her heart was off a bit and respiration kept falling. Thank God there was a doctor there who was paying attention. She had sepsis because of the bowel problem. She stayed in the hospital for 3 days and was, thankfully, sent home with the understanding that she needed to go do a lower gi. When she did, a few weeks later, there were benign tumors growing (they had not been there before), with one so big that it was blocking things and she will have to go get it out with the help of a specialist. There is actually even a site to look up the lot of whichever shots you received to see how bad the lot is.

Wow, what a bad experience that sounds. Hope she is recovered now .

Seriouslycurious profile image
Seriouslycurious in reply toGfern

Thank you - she has to have one of the tumors cut out because of it's size. We shall see. She was adamant to get them before - she'll never get another now. That is with me not indicating anything to her other than to use caution. Strangely, she also has vertigo that began shortly after the first booster but doesn't correlate that to them - and I'm not going to tell her. She suffers enough as far as I'm concerned - and she's woken up.

Not to the covid jab, but yes the shingles jab set off persistent AF after 4 years free of it since ablation in 2020. Still in AF 7 weeks on.

Seriouslycurious profile image
Seriouslycurious in reply todestiny234

Good luck - I'm taking my chances with the shingles at this point. Sorry you are suffering ((hugs))

I also have to say that the shingles shot set off bad illness in both of my parents that lasted about two weeks. I am through with all of these shots of any kind.

Not AF but 3 weeks of arrhythmia after a pfizer booster. 3 recurrences since. Cardio told me he was 99% certain it was my booster caused it .

Yes, afib commenced almost immediately after my jab and had to go to ER. Will never do that again.

Had my booster jab while in AF. Checked before with 2 GPs who said it would be OK. No problems or change since.
