Hi, I have received notification from the GP re: Flu and Shingles vaccination, should I mention that I have a history of A.F. or will the nurse already be aware of my medical status.
Shingles and Flu jab.: Hi, I have... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Shingles and Flu jab.
Hi PhyllisK, I would suggest you mention it on appointment day.
Are you being treated with Warfarin for your AF? if you are then your Surgery has put you on the at risk calender and you will be treated the same every year. If you carry the yellow book for your INR visits then they also know.
As I say I always show my book just incase.
Hello fibril98.
Thank you for your advice, I am on Wafarin but I did not realised that I was in the 'At Risk Category'
I will certainly mention this when making the vaccination appointment.
Thank you once again.
Phyl.
Had a GP appointment yesterday, she offered to give me my flu jab there and then. Am on Warfarin, Amiodarone and Bisoprolol in addition to Thyroxine. All done and dusted!
Hi I also have just been notified by my GP that my flu jab is due. Have had one every year since I have had AF on their remmendation.
Saw my GP this morning.
Apparently as I am under 65, and "only" diagnosed with AF I am not an "at risk" person, and as such if I want the flu jab I have to pay for it.
And it's cheaper at the local pharmacy than my doctors, so they can get stuffed...... (in the nicest possible way of course)
Ian,
That's real mean.
Just wondering if maybe the Guidelines have changed this year - You know how I am always getting caught up in these new Guidelines - always No to this and No to that!!!
I just assumed I was entitled to a flu jab after being offered one last year, so took a form from the reception area, filled it in, and turned up last Saturday. Our details were not being checked on the computer system - I just said that I was in the "at risk" category when she asked for my d-o-b-. Given the jab and off home in less than 3 minutes.
At least they can't take it away from me! well I haven't had a phone call from the surgery yet!!!

Have just had my flu jab. I live in south Wales and atrialfibrilation is on the at risk list apparently. Maybe it depends what health authority you are in although it really shouldn't.
