pulse field ablation?

my ablation is booked for Friday 24 th at the Papworth , Cambridge. Im having a g/a so was told I’d stay in overnight as my procedure isn’t until 2 pm. However today I phoned to ask about discharge times, so I could arrange transport, and I was told I’m due to go home at about 7 pm the same day. By all accounts my ablation is booked to take one and a half hours instead of the three I was originally told. Is it possible I’m having a pulse field one do you think?

Have you had a pre-op appointment yet where they discuss the ablation and you get a r ask any questions?

I think many people do go home usually the same day, even with GA for an ablation of any type.

You could always check any last minute details too with an arrhythmia nurse?

Depends on your distance from hospital. I am treated in London but live in Devon so they wouldn't dare discharge me at 7 pm since they like you to be accompanied and it is a five hour trip up. Shouldn't use public transport either in case of bleed from entry point.

Of course Bob…I hadn’t thought of that. Hopefully madgrannyBeth will get the chance to ask someone about it all.

BobD, I live about 28 miles from the hospital, although we’re in a village so it only takes about 20 minutes.I’ll be coming home by car, and my son lives only a couple of minutes away. I’ve got fabulous neighbours as well- who are coming in three times a day to feed my animals etc. i know it’s sensible to have an ablation now, while I’m only getting episodes every 5 or 6 weeks- so the freezer is full of ready meals and I’m ready.
