Many thanks to everyone, I have benefited so much from your posts ... so helpful
For me AF started in '22, overnight in A & E on Christmas Eve ... wild pulse and no idea what was going on. The hospital report didn't reach the GP, no diagnosis, no mention of AF. For some months I had 'palpitations' (2 - 6 hours long) always at night or very early hours, by the time an ambulance arrived or GPs surgery opened it had resolved. I was increasingly impatient to understand what was happening and finally asked to see a private cardiologist. The cardio suggested Kardia and diagnosed paroxysmal AF. I was given Verapamil (due to asthma) and Edoxaban, but by the 10th day of Verapamil I was on the floor with side effects and taken off it. I now have Flecainide as PIP (for AF episodes) and Edoxaban.
I don't do well on drugs and from the very beginning I turned to acupuncture, homeopathy etc. I continue to try and identify triggers and make adjustments to avoid / reduce stress. I take Magnesium Taurate, fish oil, eat bananas, and meditate - not necessarily in that order. I feel the acupuncture in particular is doing me a lot of good, but I know that holistic medicine can be controversial and stir up strong feelings, this is not my intention. I believe allopathic medicine is vital and saves lives, and we are fortunate to have nhs in UK.
Following is a link to a small scale study: a comparison of the efficacy of Acupuncture and Amiodarone in paroxysmal and persistent AF
