I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you are seeking information about? Are you currently taking Multaq (drondarone)? If so who prescribed it? Have you discussed cardioversion or ablation with specialist cardiologist?

Do you want information about cardioversion/ablation? If so I suggest you go to the AFA site as plenty of information there about both procedures. Here is the link - just click on cardioversion and then ablation.

Cardioversion is often used as a test to see if you would be a suitable candidate for ablation which in UK doesn’t theoretically have age limit but is most successful in younger patients who heal quickly. Whether or not you are offered either may depend upon how symptomatic you are and how often you experience episodes.

Neither cardioversion nor ablation are permanent cures and some studies show that medication is at least as effective for many people.

With so little information given it’s really hard to make suggestions or give experiences.

Thank you - I apologize for the confusion. I meant to say that I am currently using multaq but now need either a cardioversion or an ablation to continue the prescription - and I was wondering if anyone had followed this route and if they achieved lasting results from either protocol. I have two friends who did not and then had to resume other drugs as apparently multaq requires 3 month checks that you are in rhythm and if you’re not they cannot teprescrobe multaq. So - just wondering re others rxperiences. Thank you.

Hello , so I would assume that the multaq was keeping you in sinus rhythm but you have now become persistent with the AF, hence the need for cardioversion ? If that is the case you would be taken off the multaq as it would have stopped working as an anti arrhythmia . I am currently on it post cardioversion 16 months ago and so far so good . I was on it previously and it stopped working and I went back into persistent AF and I was taken off it . I am on waiting list for ablation no 3 . Good luck with your journey .

Due to my AFIB, I was given a cardioversion in January 2023 which returned me to Normal Sinus Rhythm. I was given Multaq at the time of the cardioversion and was told that they hoped that medication would keep me in Normal Sinus Rhythm which it has now fifteen months later. How long it will last, who knows? But I take Multaq specifically for that reason. I am also taking Eliquis.
