hello , been on medication, worked well for 13 yrs bisop flec But now makes me feel realy ill bisop that is I think , now on propranolol 40 mg 3 times aday and flec 50 mg 2 times aday , I’ve felt awful since last august but can’t seem to feel better what ever I do ? I’m considering going to pill in pocket 😔but iam very worried about doing this ,might stay on propranolol and use flec as pill in pocket , as I think I need a beta blocker everyday due to feelings I get , I have had 2 ablations , but bit left they didn’t ablate , so worried of getting a run of af , I know I will be walking around waiting for it to happen , never had it since my ablation and meds , just odd palpitations and one run of 98bpm one night , I’m also on levothyroxine for thyroid ? Has anyone been in this situation

Hi,I'm sorry to see you are not feeling any better.

You have written a number of posts recently about your medication making you feel ill, and you seem to change it pretty often to try to feel better without any success.

I assume you discuss changing your medication with your doctor or cardiologist before you do it to be sure it is safe.

Have you considered that it might not be the medication making you feel ill?

I have no medical knowledge but a couple of things come to mind.

You had covid a couple of months ago and I wonder if it is taking longer than expected for you to make a full recovery. It took several months for me to get back to normal after covid.

Also, if I were you I would ask the doctor to do full blood tests to see if you have a deficiency that can easily be remedied.

It's easy for anyone to get anxious when they are unwell for a length of time and I sympathise, but being anxious will make you feel worse.

Your doctor should be able to help with this.

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. Please post with any progress. Good luck.

Hello yes spoke to af nurse , it’s very confusing as I realy don’t know what’s causing it , I’m not sure if it’s my thyroid, just all of a sudden came out the blue in august , I will keep you updated with my progress, realy hope I can get to the bottom of this very soon

It could be your thyroid, it could be anything really and the anxiety will make it worse. I do think you should see your GP and tell them exactly how you feel. Also mention having covid. You can ask for blood tests. You can also ask about speaking to someone to help with your anxiety if you think it would be right for you.

I hope you get answers soon.

Hi

Oh dear. You are not sorted yet.

As you know I am on thyroxine too.

BB Bisoprolol certainly eases the Essential Tremor in my Left hand. I take 2.5mg at night. No tremor in the morning but as the day wears on tremor gets worse.

Thinking back what happened when this started. Your feeling awful?

Propanolol has not improved the way you feel?

Do you take this at night? BBs and Ace are better at night.

Keep a diary and note how you feel, when you feel better or worse etc.

Take care.

I keep my TSH @ 1.0-2.0.

cheers JOY

I definitely think you should have a full set of bloods done - thyroid retest including TSH T4 and T3 but also B12 D3, ferritin Folate, sodium magnesium calcium and potassium. Being short on any of these can cause an issue. I can report that recently I had bouts of palpitations and some AF episodes after being stable post ablation for 19 months. It turned out my TSH had doubled and I needed to increase my levothyroxine. Taking Flecainide as PiP can work well given you are on Bisoprolol or similar. But that you need to discuss with your arrhythmia nurse.

Hello I’m having bloods done Sunday , I’m confused on how this propranolol works , I’m supposed to take 3, 40mg a day , but I’m doing 2 , as doctor said see how I go , I would just like to take one dose aday , but don’t know how much is enough for flecinide 50mg twice aday , I realy do think it’s my thyroid as it’s painful with every movement at min , Hashimotos aswell , have you ever just took one flecinide a day

I think you are making yourself more anxious by trying out different doses. I know how easy it is to start doing this - you just want to feel well.again don't you? But if you're on a new medication it can take weeks for your body to adjust. I don't know about Propanol - it looks like it's similar to Bisoprolol in that it's a rate controller and also assists with high BP. I read it also helps with anxiety so maybe this is why it's been suggested for you at present. I can't tell you how much is needed to balance the effects of your anti arrhythmic medication Flecainide because om not a cardiologist. But I can tell you it might not be a good idea to take the Flecainide only once a day. Your body needs regularity. Do you feel any benefit from the Flecainide? (You said you're not actually getting AF for example.) I'd discuss this with your GP. I did reduce my dose to half a Flecainide twice a day by using a pill cutter, but that was on the advice of my arrhythmia nurse when I was coming off it.
