hello I’ve been on flec and bisop for yrs , stopped my morning flec due to feeling unwell , so now on 3.75 bisop am, by the afternoon .i start to get more palpitations /missed or extra beats , start to feel better around 6pm , but then I have to take bisop 2.5 again , and I feel beats again , take flec at 9pm and they settle , spoke to doctor this morning said to try another 1.25 bisop , but said that’s far to much as it already makes me feel unwell , so now trying adding in 25 mg flec in morning, with my 3.75 bisop leaving a gap of an hour between, realy worried just don’t know what to do , doctor is like keep a record until you see your cardiologist end of yr , I said I’m worried about long qt syndrome , just think I’m over worrying , but don’t want to end up feeling realy unwell as I did before , not been feeling to bad , but some days are 🙁from bisop side effects are awful , maybe I could reduce , but don’t want those awful palpitations to come back

As my cardiologist said to me, ‘You are between a rock and a hard place’ ie whatever treatment is prescribed is going to have a big downside 😬 I would do what your GP suggests and stick with it for at least a week.

You are over worrying and you really need a distraction to stop you concentrating on what your heart is doing. Naughty hearts love attention, they feed on it! I can’t help you choose one but I suggest you sit down and think what you could do that would need total concentration. Best wishes ❤️‍🩹

Yes. I took 25 mg Flecainide at various times. You want a good pill cutter. Most of the time it was 25 mg twice a day but sometimes it was 50mg evening and 25mg morning., It didn't work as well as 50 mg but it definitely helped. In your case it sounds like a very reasonable approach if your doctor is on board. No reason that I know of to leave a "gap" between the Flec and bisoprolol.

Worry is no good for AF or your wellbeing generally so if finances allow book to see your cardiologist privately early next month; in the meantime keep a diary as your GP suggests.

Ask him/her what the drug options are. Based on my cardiologist's advice on Flecainide keep the doses regular to let the heart settle on the new regime ie 50gms am & 50gms pm - that is after all a small dose.

Never taken Biso but it may be your cardiologist will say that can be reduced as it is usual but not essential to take with Flecainide; I have taken the latter 200mgs/day for 11yrs with no Biso or other BB/CB.

Like secondtry I was not prescribed both bisoprolol and Flecainide, but just Flecainide on its own. I started at the low dose you are on and the consultant increased it over time to 150mg twice a day. I had no side effects from Flecainide, but after 12 years I was found to be in persistent AF, which I couldn't feel. I was told to stop Flecainide, which I did, just stopped it.

Bisoprolol is known to cause tiredness, and lethargy in some who take it. In rare occasions it can cause excessive itching and other effects. There are other beta blockers.

I cannot put myself in your shoes, so don't understand how the extra beats affect you.

My AF is still without symptoms, that is asymptomatic, about eight years since I stopped Flecainide. I take an anticoagulant daily.

What has helped my general health in recent years was losing weight. I've never looked fat, but was overweight. I'm over 6'6" tall, aged 79, and have other ailments. My most annoying ailment is foot drop of my right foot, but it does not worry me.

I found that having a higher dose of metoprolol and 50mg of Flecainide was lowering my HR way too much so Cardiologist reduced both and now I’m on 10mg metoprolol which is abt 1mg Bisoprolol twice a day then abt 20 mins later I take 20mg Flecainide twice a day. Been doing this since end of January.
