Think I missed one dose of Eliquis

So I just took my regular evening dose of Eliquis for pre-op. But I just realized since I was out in the morning and didn't have my pill box with me that I forgot to take it. I'm having an ablation on Tuesday. I've been taking Eliquis twice a day and this is the first time I slipped. Damn.Do you think this can be a big problem?

I just sent a message to EP nurse.

I doubt very much it will be any kind of problem or affect your ablation date, but you did the right thing informing the EP nurse. I was told to hold my thinner the morning of the ablation, but every EP has their own protocol.

Yes, she already told me to take my meds until the night before but to stop everything on tuesday morning of arrival to the hospital.

Apixaban has a mean effective half life of 12 hours which is why it has to be taken twice a day.

Missing a dose 5 days before your ablation is therefore of no consequence.

I have been told just continue to take as normal once I have missed a tablet by 2 hours or more. I doubt this will make any difference to your ablation. Take care and hope the ablation goes well.

You need to inform the person doing the ablation.

The nurse texted me that it's not a problem. To just continue my next dose.

Tnx for the replies!

I missed one evening dose and panicked. Phoned the local ED and a doctor there told me the pills are made so that they extend to cover a missed dose. Take the next dose at the right time and continue, was his advice.

I don't have anything new to add to the above replies.

Since you are having a procedure check with your doctor about taking an anticoagulant pre operatively. Especially surgery on your vascular system. Do you not have pre-op instructions????
