Very low blood pressure

Hi again,

I went for a recorder loop implant today, which I was quite relaxed in doing. I did go by taxi just in case, but felt quite unsteady in walking to reception. This was no worse than the Saturday just gone, when I checked in at A&E as I felt pretty unsteady also ( they found nothing by the way) Today I am just sitting in the chair having my temperature taken and blood pressure, but when it came to my heart beat it was 39 ? The doctor checked again manually by holding my wrist and checked it against his wrist and confirmed it was 39 I did feel a bit out of breath with heavy heart beat

I did 6 ECG checks with my IPhone at the time which gave a no record return even though it did show in results, so yet again I was unable to capture anything conclusive myself .

The surgeon was notified, but the recorder loop was installed in my chest which went well. On return from theatre my heart beat was back to a healthy 65bpm.

As I was having a nice cup of tea after the procedure, I did another heart rate check on the phone which was OK, but by chance found another window that gave me heart rates for that morning, when checking . To my surprise I had already six readings at below 40 since 8am and it was only 11.30?

Hopefully the recorder will help identify what is going on but surprised the doctors didn’t seem to worry to much about it

Or is it me?

Its very timely that you now have the implantable loop recorder. You should get a diagnosis on your heart rate quickly. So wish i could have one. Best wishes.

Hello

I understand your concern and have been on the low heart rate/implanted loop recorder journey myself. Due to a protocol failure the ILR reports did not reach Clinical Physiology dept but when I challenged their inactivity with specific dates/times of faints and blackouts they checked the ILR stored record and confirmed that on those occasions my heart had actually stopped for up to 14 seconds. I was immediately booked in for a pacemaker 3 days later that takes over whenever my HR drops. (I am now 80 and in AF 96% of the time).

The lesson here is to stop messing with non medical devices and rely on the ILR to tell the story - and as soon as you can point to some specific episodes that the ILR will substantiate you should get some action. Without action I would have been dead long ago but am now approaching my Pacemaker replacement time - hopefully not my last!!

Hi

Oh Dear you are not 'run of the mill' normal.

But they should take note of how you feel and not feeling well is one. Lapses and fainting have the risk of falls and broken bones.

Do make sure that you tell "how you feel'.

My trouble was rapid H/Rate with AF persistent. But CCB Diltiazem AM was my med controlling this Day. Night is 47 avg regardless of med. BB Bisoprolol at PM.

Hi

The medical supplied by hospital 24-hr monitoring.

And ECG at hospital with ECHO redone from Feb 2021 to Dec 2023 met with Heart Specialist.

I have a MicoLife BP monitor that I might use twice month. I'm over it - monitoring frequently.

I put up life experiences especially about meds.

Research important worth putting it out there too.

There will be lots of improvements in the future.

Good advice above by all, but be concerned about the accuracy of your monitoring device. What type is it ?

Monitoring symptoms and blood pressure also important.

I have had a capture of A/F by ECG in hospital, also on record at hospital to say my heart rate was 32 after admitted . Have been monitoring with my IPhone for convenience which seems to flag up low heart beat and A/F also was at the hospital on the 21st Feb and had my heart rate checked by doctor by machine and manually and it showed a heart rate of 39/40 bpm .
