Not advised, and definitely not allowed if on anticoagulation. Suggest you read recent posts Kent2007

Ibuprofen has been showwn to cause AF.

All oral NSAID's but especially Ibuprofen and Diclofenac can trigger AF and are proven to cause it in the first place.

Thanks, So what do you use for pain relief?

I use paracetamol but if I need something stronger, then it's Co-codamol. Over the counter strength is usually enough but prescription-only stuff is good for short-term stronger pain. For my back pain I use a sparing amount of anti-inflammatory gel for a day or two and try to help with heat and ice packs.

no ibuprofen if on anticoagulants. If not on anticoagulants I would wonder why as they are one of the first things prescribed for atrial fibrillation / flutter to help prevent strokes because of blood clots forming in the heart.

Paracetamol is really the most recommended

All the best

I am sure there is no contraindication to take either and that you will be fine; however, ibuprofen is quite a complex drug and might affect you differently from other people, often owing to the way different people's livers clear their system of drugs. Aso, Excedrin contains caffeine which a few people are extra sensitive to, although tests have shown that coffee does not trigger Af at all.

I routinely take Excedrin and have not had a problem. Usually caffeine in a pepsi can cause extra PVCs but one or two Excedrin is no issue for me. It’s the only thing that works for a headache for me.
