One of the GPs in the practise I go to has suggested that I don't have AF because I don't get chest pain when I am breathless - just very weak and wobbly. does anyone else have similar symptoms please?
Pain?: One of the GPs in the practise I... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Pain?
He is talking absolute rubbish. I have never had any pain whatsoever with my A/F. Weak and wobbly sums it up very well. Totally unable to function would be a good description of how I feel during a bad attack.
I would suggest that your GP has a poor understanding of A/F and that is very worrying.
I have never had pain. It is only very occasional that people suffer this. Change your doctor if I were you. Stone age springs to mind. Where do they find these idiots and what worries me is that he /she is out there treating patients. What else have they screwed up over. Sorry got to go an lie down in a darkened room now I am so angry.
Change your doc. Ive never had pain. Had AF now for several years
Already in darkened room so nowhere to go!
Seriously the one time I had chest pain with PAF I was told to go to A and E smartish and I was in three days having tests. It depends on a lot of factors whether you have pain or not but pain is treated by experts as possibly a sign of some other heart problem.
Regarding the ignorance of the GP, can't say what I think, we are supposed to be polite.....only Bob is allowed!
I have had chest pain with AF, but not all the time. I think your GP needs to learn more about AF! As someone else has suggested, I would change GP.
To put it in medical language, what a load of c***blers. Change your doctor, he/she hasn't a clue or is lying.
Koll
Never had chest pain but felt like I couldn't breathe, heart rate all over the place and so ill and weak I had to lie down. Your GP knows nothing about AF, I think.
Thanks everyone for confirming what I thought. Trouble is some professionals can be very convincing and make you feel that you know very little!
No pain, tired, wobbly, weak but no pain ever
Ditto to all above, he/she has misinformed you. I know a lot of people with AF & AFl and only 1 who has pain associated with it.
If you are getting chest pain with AF for the first time it's time to get to A&E to check it isn't actually a mild heart attack. Obviously if its found not to be then no problem but you need ECGs and a walking stress test to confirm that's the case.
Never any pain. I did get the odd sensation like you had been jabbed with a blunt point but it was so quick you could not pinpoint its exact location. I still get this after the ablations and assume it is nothing to worry about.
Some GPs worry me. I would have so much more respect for one if he acknowledged that he didn't have an answer to something but assured me that he would find out and speak again. So dangerous to pretend and give wrong advice.
Change GP I have never had pain even when I was drowning in my own fluid and never have pain when I am I AF he is not very well informed
