I've been taking Lansoprazole 30 mg for years . It works perfectly for me with no apparent side effects. Do speak to your GP if you continue to get the symptoms you describe.

I have always thought that there is a link, lots of people with AFIB also take Lansoprazole. When I mentioned this over 15 years ago the Consultant told me there was none, but I Acid Reflux may be a cause of AFIB.

I doubt it. Its very common anyhow. If you are in the habit of eating late at night and maybe a heavy meal then this may well lead to reflux, if you are susceptible, which could trigger an AF episode. So, a trigger rather than a cause.

I suffer this on occasion and put it down to my acid reflux and small hiatus hernia (controlled with esomeprazole). I have been told that the stomach sits directly below the heart with only a very thin sheet of diaphragm muscle between. Any disturbance in the stomach, or distension with gas or food, causes it to move and it can press against the heart and set off ectopic beats which, in those prone to AF, can trigger the arrhythmia.

I do, well similar esomeprazole, another PPI tablet fro stomach acid. I now and again discomfort under my left ribs, with a tingling kind of feeling into my back. This can be accompanied by palpitations or ectopic beats, and even AF. I never know whether it is the heart or the stomach (the esomeprazole I take is for acid reflux perhaps caused by a small hiatus hernia I also have).

After my TAVI my GP surgery prescribed Lansoprazole, my heart surgeon said it wasn't necessary, but I had several months of very uncomfortable bloating at night and other gastro manifestations (!), so I started taking it and very soon noticed a gradual improvement.

EDIT two days later: I've been Googling Lansoprazole, and didn't come across anything that said that it helped with bloating - but there were several websites that warned that it could cause it! Since starting taking it five weeks or ago, I have had a significant decrease in bloating and on some days am unaware of any.
