Hi Danny. You’re not alone with the RSV so total empathy from me. Also came down on Christmas Eve. I don’t feel quite so bad today, so hopefully you too will turn the corner soon. But the cough is a killer. I have amoxicillin prescribed as a pill in pocket if I don’t improve soon. Keeping an anxious eye on slightly elevated heart rate, as similar Covid infection is what tripped my one and only AFib attack last year. Hopefully you’ll improve soon - no magic I think other than rest, hydration and painkillers if you still have the fever. Also I’d say take it easy for the foreseeable; my AFib was triggered 5 weeks post Covid so any inflammation can clearly linger for some time post a viral infection. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hey silky poor you it’s evil couldn’t believe something could be worse than covid.literally headaches like I’ve never known.my whole body aches even my neck at the back.and the fever and temps where so high.Well I don’t need too explain we’re in this together yuck hate being ill and at Xmas really 😂.yes I had AF with covid but this is more of a long palp that lasts a few seconds but did go on at times for hours.Be so careful check this out vm.tiktok.com/ZGeYDDQ6q/

She is a healthy regular gym go-er this morning I felt a tiny bit better but that didn’t last long back to high temps fever cold and hot.also had weird visuals and so confused and super short tempered which I am not generally lol. Thanks for your reply silky let me know what you think of the TikTok there’s loads especially from Uk but this sums it up.although symptoms will differ 😷

Hi Danny

I'm sorry to hear that you have felt so poorly having RSV. I must admit I'd never heard of this complaint before, so looked it up online, your COPD must make it difficult for you.

I had a mild sore throat which lead to a very productive cough in Nov/Dec it was awful for about 4 weeks. At the time someone said to me there's a 100 day cough going around and I thought that was going to be what I had. Still have a very slight mildly productive cough now. I don't think I felt particularly ill with it, though I've been suffering from Lazyitis for several months.

There are so many different complaints now which are all very similar in symptoms, cold, flu, pneumonia, covid, bronchitis and now RSV. I cant help but wonder how on earth anyone can know just what it is that they have?

Wishing you a speedy recovery and I hope you have someone looking after you.

Best wishes

Jean

It literally is horrific especially with copd.Well my dad has also had that cough and cold but also didn’t hear about the 100 day cough 😷.Everyone deserves being lazy when there a bit poorly.i thought I was ok with flu jab and covid vaccine wrong.Your so right I think there’s about 6 things going around inc covid. You have a nice new year & happy new year.i have written off new year which is probably best for my heart plus I can’t drink on antibiotics or even feel like a drink 😂thanks for your reply have a lovely day ❤️

I am recovering from my first respiratory virus in nearly 8 years. I had forgotten how awful a bad cough can be! During the pre cough cold phase I had very high temperatures and this put me into afib 3 times in 4 days . The last episode lasted 22 hrs - the longest I have ever had. The coughing gave me back, neck and rib pain . Luckily my cough only lasted 2 weeks but I feel very tired and reluctant to do anything adding to my usual winter Lazyitis ( as Jean so accurately describes it). I tested negative for Covid so it might have been this RSV or just a bad cold like I last had in Mar 2016. I took extra NAC - N acetyl cysteine - for the cough. It loosens the mucous and makes it easier to get up. It has mild blood "thinning " properties though so people on anticoags might not want to take it. Personally I think the benefits outweigh any risks which are hard to quantify and probably dose dependent. Hope you get better soon.

Hi there. Thanks for your reply and poor you.sounds like this RSV I am covid negative .I didn’t have a cough initially it developed after a few days in the pre cough stage.By what your describing it sounds similar to my symptoms.Im just going by all the other people who have similar symptoms and have posted there horrible experiences. The problem is there’s 6 viruses going around.but I only know 3 covid,RSV & Rhinovirus.but as RSV is a respiratory condition it matches all of what I’m going through.some people reporting 16+ days I’m day 8 and loosing the will.Well keep warm stay safe and happy new year 😃

My cough lasted nearly a fortnight . My husband's a bit longer than that. You just have to resign yourself to feeling crap for a bit longer! I read somewhere that the average cough caused by a respiratory virus lasts 18 days!

Hi there yes day 8 it’s horrible beyond what I ever thought really vulnerable ppl should have atleast been warned seems that something that is more severe than covid the gov have just thrown us under a bus as usual. But when you have Boris Johnson and rishi sunak saying we should just let the vulnerable die what do you expect.hate what this country has become !!!

That's an interesting post - thank you. I hope the antibiotics have done the trick and that you are on the mend. It's not a good start to the new year!

Hi Steve yeah it is the worst viral infection I have ever had so severe.its got into my lungs so I have the antibiotics & steroids for that.so I am just hoping that clears my chest .as far as the virus goes they can’t treat it.Last night I had really weird heart beats as the lung infection also affects the heart.bit people with no heart issues are reporting palpitations and or weird heart rates.Stay safe mate wear a mask when required.you don’t want this.

I try to avoid crowded places and anywhere the air is still but most have forgotten about viruses these days. The only mask of real use is an N95 type, that is unless everyone wears some kind of covering, it seems.

I had my first bout with a-fib while in the ER to be checked for Covid. Turns out I actually had RSV, a nasty virus that used to be quite rare in adults. In fact, the ER folks told me it’s so common in children that most people have developed strong immunity against it by the time they reach adulthood. Now it’s much more common in adults — and deadly. More circumstantial evidence that Covid and/or the jab has affected our immune systems. I’m not only sick more frequently, but much sicker with whatever comes along, including RSV— AGAIN!

Thanks for your reply well day 8 insomnia, heart palps, stabbing chest pains fever, general unwell feelings.i do agree the vaccines weaken immune systems.its all a bit of a joke a flu jab but you still get it as bed and with RSV can easily end up in hospital same with covid.last time i had that had to get antiviral drug to get through it.Feels like the worst Groundhog Day ever.i have never felt this ill and normal healthy ppl are saying the same stay well HNY

Sorry to hear that so many are ill - not a great start to the New Year. There is SUCH a lot going around, a viral soup out there which is probably as a result of COVID lockdowns as these bugs have always been around, COVID and strategies to combat COVID seem to have weakened us and allowed every bug known to thrive because we are now all much more susceptible.

Lazyitis - all for it!

We had mild version of ?? Rhinitis for one day leaving a bit of phlegm, apathy and fatigue with a few aches and pains in the joints but nothing much. Triggered a few episodes of AF, one of which was a bit symptomatic but nothing like previous episodes last year.

I am no longer wearing a mask unless to protect others if I think I may have something. No vaccines this year and feeling so much better for it.

It’s a New Year - hopefully a peaceful, happy, healthier one for us all. Look after yourselfs out there and speedy recovery to all who are suffering.

Hey Cdreamer yes it’s a melting pot for viruses and yes lockdowns could be the cause I don’t know.just never felt that bad ever and I’m still going through it.sorry too hear you had a mild case of rhinitis.i did get last vaccines but doesn’t seemed to have helped who knows.if this virus gets into your lunge you will have a hell of a job fighting it off like me.Again stay well stay safe and hopefully a better year 😂

It’s now a hypothesis that COVID virus ‘piggy backs’ on pneumonia bacteria and that is what can be a lethal cocktail.

Let’s hope New Year brings better health, more sun (in UK anyway) and fun. Take care.

Is there a test for RSV? My son thinks he had it too but we never caught anything from him so I question that he had it. But my husband and I have good amounts of Vitamin D in us. I felt a little off but nothing like you all are describing.
