testerone treatments

I am a 70-year-old man with persistent a flutter. I’ve had four ablations they have not worked. I noticed in the last year I have lost considerable muscle mass. Being a former college athlete, it’s hard to see your body deteriorate. My brother has been taking testosterone pellets for the last year. He has no hard issues, but his doctor said that testosterone can strengthen the heart.

Has anybody experienced positive or negative effects with testosterone treatments?

I had testosterone removal hormones for three years following prostate cancer and apart from some hot flushes felt the best I had in years. My wife said I was a nicer person too!

Thanks bobby. Did you have pellets or shot?

Monthly pellets in my stomach of Zoladex to stop testosterone production as that is what the cancer feeds off.

my husband was part of a trial for a cocktail of hormones which included Testosterone for male form of HRT. He felt great - I nearly divorced him!

Are you married?

Would be best to have your current testosterone level checked.

Then coordinate with your cardiologist and a urologist to determine path forward.

As BobD mentions, prostate cancer can be enabled by testosterone so consult with a urologist.

I quite understand your body concerns. I am the same age and do not like to see muscle capability going down what seems like very rapidly despite some weight training and a physically active life.

I did look at testosterone enhancement some time ago to help fight AF and concluded it was too difficult to artificially boost without potential side effects.

Sorry don't remember the source, but I do recall reading sometime ago that the older we get the more testosterone we loose and it is the opposite for women. Maybe this is for good reason if T is the cause of prostate cancer in later years 🤔.
