My last episode was a high stress move out of state 2 years ago. I'm 68. I've had afib for 10 years . Regular episodes every 6 months on average though more frequent in the early years before I got a proper diagnosis which took 3 years. I take flecainide , metoprolol , and Xarelto. No ablations. I'm also really surprised at how long reprieve has lasted. But here's some things I've done that I think have helped. I started walking 2 times a day for a total of 4 miles, up to 7 miles in the winter. I take my vitamins especially D3 with K2. Vit E , A probiotic , zinc , and magnesium citrate twice a day. I don't take those all in one horse pills , I try to take quality vitamins. I don't eat allot . I graze on almonds between my small meals. I try to stay hydrated. I'm 5'9" at 175lbs. Hoping to lose more but its difficult due to beta blockers but I have managed to lose 12 lbs this past year from walking. Meds give me bad dry mouth at night , which gave me cavities consistently. 3 years ago I discovered Boka toothpaste and have been cavity free since. If you get one thing out of this post it's Boka toothpaste. Bad teeth can effect your heart. I believe I found the right balance for me. I know everybody is different. But I seem to be beating the odds of "progressive disease"

Thank you for all those helpful tips Anafib. I have never heard of Boka toothpaste but will search for it online.
My AF triggers are artificial additives, especially sweeteners. I hadn't had any fast episodes for a while, then last week I popped a small mint in my mouth and off my heart raced. The ingredients of them was too small to read so I had to look online and yep there were several sweeteners.
Walking, well I must try and do more of it.
Hope you stay well.

Doing ALL of the right things - well done and completely agree - oral health is very important and never ignore.
Bottle that and sell it and you would put all of the doctors and pharmacists out of business!
I see there are quite a few different types of Boka toothpaste. Which one are you using?
Personally I like the Coco ginger flavor. Nano-Hydroxyapatite is the active ingredient . There are more brands that sell with this ingredient. It's a Japanese product. Don't even have to spit it out like that poisonous fluoride.
Thank you for sharing, I ordered that Boka toothpaste for the whole family 👪. After my cardiac arrest, I found out I had bacteries in my gum. Our mouth health affects our heart. What can also help is to become nasal breather, mouth breathing not only affects our breathing but also our teeth.Thierry
