My cardiologist is in Warwick and he referred me to Dr Lencioni as EP - who works out of QE. I have found him to be excellent. Knowledgeable, listens and works with you to agree management plan.

2nd ablation with him for AFlutter appears to have resolved it.

Now in queue for 1st ablation for AF. Estimated 9 mth wait.

He also does private at the Priory.

I second Wilsond. UCHW has an excellent EP team.

Hi Try The Birmingham Heart Rhythm Group at The Priory near Queen Elizabeth Hospital. They are the consultants who work at the latter for the NHS & privately at The Priory. The Priory has a cardiac lab and intensive care unit if you want the full Monty privately. It’s around £250 for an outpatient appointment to discuss. I saw Dr Lencioni who made me feel very at ease and explained things in plain English! Good luck 😉

Thanks.I wonder if I made a private appointment with him if he would then take me on as a NHS patient?

Might be worth a try.

Yes. That is what happened with me and I believe the normal process if you do not want to have the procedure done privately (likely sooner but I understand around £17k!)

Hi they transfer your file back into the NHS anyway since it’s a chronic condition that may reappear as you age even if you are treated initially privately. Not sure about the wait list now but it was over a year for ablation last time I asked from point of initial consultation which was minimum 9 months wait in itself. That’s why I went privately as I wanted a definitive diagnosis as it was so disruptive and I’d just retired as well!! The secretary is Michelle and she will explain all that even if you don’t go ahead with an appointment. Hope that helps your thoughts on all this; it’s a lot to decide.
