I see both a cardiologist and an EP, one for heart failure and the latter for AF...is this the norm or should the EP be able to do both?

Cardiologist and EP
Well the EP is a cardiologist who kept on training so has the knowledge to do both but I think it depends on the protocols and methods at each hospital.
I see both although AF is apparently my only problem. I see the Cardiologist at the local hospital then 6 months later I see the EP annually at the Regional Hospital, 45 miles away where I had my ablation. The local Cardiologist tells me to ring him if I have a problem. I value this LOCAL input and I know that if I were to need a c.v. then he would do it. They all know that a further ablation would not be attempted due to fibrosis and that I will need pace and ablate if my condition deteriorates.
No you need both. In simple terms one is a plumber and one an electrician. Of course they will have knowledge of each other's area but seeing an expert for each problem is the best course of action.
I have an EP who I am very happy with and he addresses all my heart issues but he's 1.5 hours away. I've been taken into my local (20 mins away) hospital multiple times (I have LVNC and heart failure as well as PAF, SVT and Aflutter) and I've now asked to see a local cardiologist as well. I just want someone in my corner when I get admitted locally.
I did see a cardiologist but he referred me to the EP and the latter now deals with both my AF and heart failure.
