I’m overwhelmed with response I’ve had to my post about my difficulties with atrial fibrillation and medication. Thank you all for your kindness and concern. Yesterday I made an appointment at a private hospital near Sheffield to see a consultant cardiologist/electrophysiologist for August 15th. I’ll be gathering all the information I have and writing a list of questions. At least I will come away with more understanding about my situation. Many thanks and all the best to everyone, Sasha
Thank you everyone.: I’m overwhelmed... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Thank you everyone.
Good news Sasha -all the best with your appointment. Please let us know how you get on.
Good luck Sasha, let us know how you get on.
During your consultation remember you are the most important member of your medical team and the one that takes all the final decisions. I am afraid the days are gone when one can just listen and follow whatever the medic says without an explanation.
Don't be rushed and focus on getting benefit from the extra 10 mins or so you get more than in an NHS appointment.
Good for you - best of luck x
SashaPooch I live in Tickhill near Sheffield and new to the area I am also looking for a private consultation have you a name and hospital please
Hi Billblue, welcome to South Yorkshire. I contacted Thornbury Hospital on 0114 266 1133. There are a number of cardiologists/electrophysiologists there. A consultation costs between £200-250. I just picked one with a suitable appointment time for me. Most appointments as you might imagine are in the evening. Thornbury Hospital is at 312 Fulwood Rd Sheffield S10 3BR and is part of the Circle Health Group. When I called the receptionist was very friendly and knowledgeable. I am self funding and that was no problem. Good luck
Forgot to say, my appointment is with Dr Jonathan Sahu. He seems very well qualified and appears to work at Northern General and Leeds. Hope he is kind, patient and a good listener. I’ll find out when I see him!
The help I got from this group was invaluable. I also learned how to monitor my Afib and to make the necessary lifestyle adjustments by reading The Afib Cure by John Day.
