Can any of you tell me if it’s ok to take Immodium whilst on Warfarin and Bisoprolol. I’ve tried to check on three drug checker sites but they don’t recognise that particular trade name, and I don’t know what the components are. Also, I suppose Dioralyte is ok ? Thank you.
Annie.

I've taken Immodium many times over the years whilst on warfarin and Bisoprolol with no adverse effects.
I wouldn't like to estimate how many Immodium were taken to get me home from Southampton after a Norovirus riddled cruise 😱😬 Just ensure that you get your INR tested when you are back to normal
.Dioralyte is fine. Both of these given to me by ship's doctor
When I was having radiotherapy for prostate cancer in 2011 I was mainlining the stuff with zero issues though naturally I had to have my INR checked more regularly. 33 sessions over seven weeks!
By the way the active ingredient is Loparimide Hydrochloride
Crikey Bob, I didn’t know you had gone through all that ( not been on this forum very long in the big scheme of things ). Thanks for your reassurance, and info on the ingredient.
Not fun but endurable. Had the darned thing out but they discovered during operation that it had spread hence the radiotherapy which was scatter gun rather than focussed to catch anything that had escaped. That fried my bowels hence the imodium but it all settled once the radio was over. After that, three years of hormone treatment and I'm still here to tell the tale and six monthly blood tests to check it isn't coming back.. Seems a long time ago now. lol 😁
If you have to buy it yourself, here in South Africa, and I'm sure it's the same in the UK, it is sold under the name of Loperamide Hydrochloride and it's a fraction of the price of the branded Immodium. Once when I had a tummy bug, my doctor prescribed Kantrexil and that was like waving a magic wand !!!!!
I think the most important thing is to monitor your INR. If possible to get your own device from Roche and if you are entitled, your surgery will get you test strips on prescription. As far as I can see over the years, you can take almost anything as long as it doesn't interfere with your INR.
The NHS have a help line whereby you can ask questions like this. BUT at the end of the day if you can keep your INR within the prescribed range it shouldn't matter. For your own peace of mind search out NHS first and ask the same question.
Thanks very much. You are right about INR of course, but I wondered also if the ingredients might interfere with the Bisoprolol. Not likely I know. I literally had an INR test just before I started with my ‘problem’, and always have them every 2 weeks for peace of mind. Fortunately I am not sick as well !
I am on the same as you, Warfarin & Bisoprolol (5mgs). Nothing in my diet affects Bisoprolol is my personal experience!
I take alot of CoCodomol for arthritic pain relief, I booze on like you wouldn't believe an old git could, I still work part time, 30 hours a week and live a life. Been AF free for can't remember how long at least 18 months I guess.
So hey ho, I'll probably get runover by a runaway bus 😂😂😂😂
