CBD for anxiety and insomnia

Has anyone had experience with CBD for relieving anxiety and insomnia? I’m on Pradaxa, metoprolol and had ablation for AFib and SVT 2 yrs ago. Doing ok mostly but extremely lethargic because I don’t get enough sleep even with my CPAP. I’m 74 and was otherwise pretty healthy. I appreciate any insight from you. I rarely post but thought I would as I’m so grateful to continue learning from your experiences and knowledge.

I was prescribed Sativex on the NHS for spasticity some months ago. I had not responded well to 3 different lots of tablets so the Neurologist decided to try me on this cannabis oil product. ( this is the only way to get it )

I will post more details soon. It is a spray used up to 12 times each day. It is the most vile tasting product imaginable.

Be very wary about what you are buying. There are many products advertised at great cost containing God- knows- what.

I'm not convinced it's doing very much. My AF, sleeping & anxiety levels are little altered. My spasticity remains.

Yes, I use it to promote sleep and have found it improves mood and sleep. I’m not a worrier anyway so can’t say for anxiety. From the research I did I found that not all brands are equal so do your research into which is the most efficacious. See PM

I tried it a while ago, I felt a little calmer but can't say that it helped with sleep.

My wife uses it and says it helps her get a good night, it's worth a go!

Yes at the beginning of last year I was referred for CBT by my GP as I was suffering from moderate depression following a bad year and a bereavement. It helped me get through a very bad patch mentally but cannot say it helped me sleep any better, although relaxation and meditation did help somewhat. I’ve been a bad sleeper since my AF diagnosis 17 years ago but the GP has now prescribed me Zopiclone which I use occasionally when having a bad run of sleepless nights. I do not use it daily, probably about twice a week or when I know I have a busy day coming up. This seems to work well for me. Best wishes.

I have taken it, mostly for pain in my knee joints. It works with my knees but I also find it helps me to relax and get a good nights sleep. Even better, once I no longer need it for my knees, my sleep patterns are good for months after I stop taking it.

If you think your sleep problems are related to IBD you might want to try inulin, a dietry fibre made from chicory root. I take two teaspoons a day and find it very helpful.

One unresolved problem with CBD oil and Inulin is their effects seem to differ from person to person.

Good luck.

It has helped joint pain in my thumb and one finger but not in my knees. I has not helped my insomnia after about five months but I don't feel so uptight about not sleeping: when lying awake :-)

I buy the quality Celtic Wind brand. My wife tried it for various things but gave up o as she said it gave her a headache.
