Anyone on Multaq for AFIB, do you also take metoprol with it! I am afraid of my heart rate getting too low with both drugs! My doctor said they go together! Any info you can will help!

Hopefully it will work well for you. I was initially on Multaq 400mg daily too but Cardiologists said no to metoprolol / any beta blockers, because of my bradycardia and tendency towards vagal-vagal induced fainting. The Multaq did lower my RHR, but it also did not stop or reduce intensity of daily AF episodes. EP switched me to Amiodarone April 2nd, which lowered my RHR further (low 40’s, so lower energy but not too bad). More importantly though, the AF has been bearable and much improved QOL until ablation (May 31st).

Thank you for reply to my concern on beta blocker with Multaq! You said you take BISOPROLOL with Multaq! So me taking a beta blocker with Multaq should be okay! Thanks again!

You should not assume that because someone else takes it its ok - when I was on Multaq with Bisoprolol my pulse went as low as 29 and as taken off it immediately - you need to get proper advice on this you could easily conk out with this combination

I have been taking Multaq for five years now. AF breakthroughs now and then with a slight increase during the years of treatment. I now have an average PAF about once a month with a duration of 8-12 hours. I do not take Bisoprolol on a regular basis but when in AF I take 2,5mg to reduce my heartrate. The only slight side effect I have noticed with Multaq is a slight tirednes which could possible also be attributed to age as I am getting on for 83 but am quite active and about.
