my consultant isn’t happy for me to go on holiday which has made me feel very depressed and confused. My beta blockers are nasty side effects but my BPM is under control. Anyone been told they can’t fly?

SVT diagnosis and travel?

I can't answer the flying question but if your consultant has advised against it then there must be a reason.
In addition do consider your holiday insurance. You would be travelling in effect against the advice of your doctor. I see from your previous post that you may be awaiting an ablation . If that is the case you may find it difficult to obtain travel insurance.
Not what you want to hear I'm sure but that is the situation. You could end up with a dangerously high heart rate and need urgent medical attention. Don't think about under declaring your medical history !
I would be exactly the same as I live for my holidays however, I honestly wouldn’t go against advice mainly in case you invalidate your travel insurance. I flew last year and 3 days in, my heart just stopped beating. I had a cardiac arrest but luckily my husband sprung into action and started CPR immediately. I was in a hospital in Chania for 8 days (€1500 per night plus the cost of tests, flew by air ambulance to Athens and stayed there for most tests for 10 days before coming back to the UK by air ambulance straight to LHCH hospital to have an ICD fitted.
The anxiety of wondering whether the insurance would pay out was too much to bear at times. I was worried I only had verbal approval from doctor, it was on the dot of the deadline I was allowed to fly post-ablation, I had a fainting episode in 2015 which I was worried would invalidate it. The list was endless! I did not think for one second this would happen to me but thankfully they paid out and even paid for a family member to fly out and bring the children back home. I don’t meant to scare or depress you, but I’d go back for another opinion and get more clarity on the reasons why.
I hope you get to go - I really do!
tha j you, that’s very helpful and not going to fly until they say it’s safe to do so 🙏
IF you’re cardiologist says you’re safe to fly go for it ( but definitely not otherwise). I’ve flown twice ( with 2 more flights booked) since my HA, cardiac arrest and then developing atrial fibrillation, NSVT, and SVT. I’m stable on medications. Let us know what you’re told. Good luck.
No.but did only a couple of times.my fear..just had pacemaker placed..I am going to eventually FLY before I can't..have AFib.two ablations.beta blockers.
