Flecainide and other meds

Got my prescription for Flecainide today and am trying to work out when to take it! Am on sertraline (apparently there can be an interaction so that could be fun!) thyroid meds and bisoprolol. Am a little nervous about a new med but am hoping it will help. Does anybody else take other meds alongside Flecainide? Or have any tips about it? Thanks x

Flecainide and Sertraline can cause LQTS if taken together over a long period as they accumulate in the blood plasma. It is advisable to have an ECG taken occasionally and perhaps a blood test.

My QTc went up to 480 ms and I chose to stop the Sertraĺine before it got to the 500 ms danger zone. It is now back to the normal 440 ms.

How often is a ECG to be taken when on Flecainide and why an ECG? Can Flecainide be taken when one has non obstructive coronary artery disease and no structural heart problems?

The QTc can only be measured with an ECG. If Flecainide is taken together with any SSRI type of antidepressant then it has been advised to have an ECG taken every 6 months. I used my Kardia and measured it myself using the QTc App.

No experience of other drugs with Flec but do make sure you take it 3hrs after a meal and not eat for 1 hr after that. I always take mine religiously when I wake up and then again at 4pm; never had any problems.

I just started 50 mg twice per day of Flecainide and also take Eliquis and Metoprolol (only 12.5 per day since Flec was started). My BP has been around 85/60 in the mornings since I started the Flecainide. It also makes me feel very nervous in the mornings and very lightheaded in the afternoons. I don’t like it at all. Scheduled for an EKG Thursday to see if it’s helping, but if the side effects don’t improve, I don’t want to take it.

I prescribed Eliquis, metoprolol and flecianide and still have lightheadedness with some low blood pressure and probably contributed to ED and certainly thinning my hair along with reduced what I will call in emotional or body spirit. Aren’t these medication’s given to people who suffer from anxiety and or depression? I’m a carpenter and I should just start building my box. This can’t go on and there must be a more natural organic response to Afib.
