Hi

How come calcium benign?

In 2005 I was called up on a mamograme. Clumping

calcium needed checking.

Called back to have this machine strike and take calcium. It hurt

and I had 6 paracetamol in me. After about 15mins I said "I've

had enough".

"Probably got enough".

I was called back again and underwent operation called coathanger directed

operation.

Called back again. Found a carcinoma in situ in a milk duct.

Had the operation up in Northland.

Not as sore placing this coathanger..

Successful removed and a cross section of other milk ducts - nothing found.

Free and refused radiation. Never returned.

So calcium clumping is just that but it can mean cancer in the area.

Take care, JOY 74 (NZ)

They took samples of the calcium to be tested in the lab. Apparently calcium is more often than not just part of the ageing process but could be indicative of something suspicious hence the biopsy. Sounds like you had a difficult experience. X

Hi

Here in NZ the mammogramme showed a suspicion that

something was in the area.

It was a carcinoma in situe 0 grade cancer. In a milk duct.

Apparently now you are told but you can choose to leave it with regular tests yearly I suppose or take it out.

Here's hoping nothing will show it the future for you Daisyblu.

Cheers JOY

glad you had a good report! I have calcifications and they just keep an eye on them after a closer look many years ago.

That's good to know. Have you needed more biopsies?

Nope. And back to yearly mammograms with no issues! (I just had ultrasound, no biopsies).
