COVID AND ARRHYTHMIA

Just thought some would like to know - I had Covid for the second time in July, no major problem and recovered after a week or so. Life back to normal (no arrhythmia) until early October felt fine but blood pressure increase for no reason (180/98) and ectopics when resting/in bed, HR normal to low but every third beat had an ectopic. Went to Doc who thought it was long Covid, took bloods and referred to Cardiologist just in case. Bloods came back all Ok and Cardiologist though same as doc so did not want to see me. After 3 weeks ectopics stopped and all back to normal, so looks like Covid really is the great unknown that effects us in many different ways. This may put some minds at rest if they experience similar - don't rule out Long Covid.

I'm with you SD.

Also had covid and tested negative last Sunday. No real problems except sleeping all the time. That was 8 days after testing positive so passed pretty quickly. You are right though - we are all different.

Long covid is still being researched and understood. Even though the initial virus has passed there can still be a 'kickback'. It's good news your blood tests were OK so it sounds like you're back on track.

Yes long Covid took over 3 months before it presented with me

It really is a weird virus. For abut three weeks after I had it in early October I had almost daily migraine aura. (no headaches) All good now though.

Yes mine went away completely before returning after 3 months of being well and first time I associated it with my arrhythmia.

Hi there, I had covid first week of August last year, loads of palpitations but cleared up after two weeks. Then I had my covid booster which historically hasn't been a problem but this time my heart did a merry dance for about three weeks and has not been great since.... Yes covid is the great unknown and definitely an enemy of the heart!

Hi there, my heart went crazy for 30 episode 3 days after the Pfizir booster

See my post below- same problem with ectopics after pfizerbooster

Hiya, yes it was Pfzir that triggered me, I'd had Moderna and Oxford Astrazenica without any complications. Don't think I'll be able to have any more jabs tbh.

I was fine after my ablation but the second Pfizer triggered flutters, shortness of breath and then AFib. As of Friday I am back on an ablation list. Pretty upset about this. Inflammation from spike protein/jabs and Covid are not heart friendly.

Sorry to hear that, I see my cardiologist on the 1st of February so hoping for some answers.

same here for 3 weeks after pfizer booster

Yes it was a terrible experience! Hopefully you can avoid it next time.

All mine so far have been Pfizer; I'll certainly be looking for different if I have another but hat's all they had this year. Although it was nasty it's a relief to hear that other people had the same reaction

Also I have seen reported by doctors that the mRNA vaccine can cause heart problems particularly within the first 5 months of the booster. What I have read & listened to I will not be having any mRNA shots but apparently there are other Covid vaccines that may come available in the UK (already in other countries) that have minimal side effects - these are not new gene therapy but based on the old tried and tested methods of production.

I would investigate what is being used as the adjuvant. One of them uses squalene - not good. Also is the antigen the spike protein or the entire virus?

What is MRNA? Is it MOderna? We had no option, there was only Pfizer

Sorry don't know the science bit but doesn't relate to Moderna.

mRNA = messenger ribonucleic acid. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are the first — so far — to use this technology in a still-experimental vaccine, though there are plans to use it in other contexts.

Here's an explanation of how they're supposed to work...

healthline.com/health/how-d...

How well they actually do work appears to be something of a moot point, given the current data.

Thanks. I thought it was a new vaccine that had c ome out

Good to hear from you, Mr Davies! And I'm glad you are back to normal. We avoided covid until Christmas and both came down with it along, with an 89-year-old friend. I might have accidentally given it him, so you can imagine my worry. We initially thought it to be just a cold which my grandson had passed to me. Well, I wouldn't wish it on anyone and the elderly friend had several days of real worry with severe symptoms, but, so far, there's been no hint of longer term issues apart from constant catarrh. That same friend's daughter has long covid from catching it last March and in October found it had attacked her kidneys, sadly. She's still having quite intensive treatment.

It's a devil of a virus, truly.

Hi, yes don't think anyone has the full picture on what Covid can do and how it can affect our bodies.

Ppiman profile image

It’s certainly inspired a vast amount of research work thanks to the massive funding that’s been made available. I should think our knowledge of virus illnesses has rocketed over the last there years.

I haven't had covid but after my latest booster I developed really bad ectopics, both atrial and ventricular a few days after my booster. The hospital told me they'd seen quite a few patients the same although my GP claims there's no connection. Like you, after about 3 weeks they stopped. I'd had a holter monitor that showed 5000 ectopics in an 8 hour period.

Shcldavies profile image
Shcldavies in reply to Qualipop

Yes really strange virus, out of interest how do know the difference between atrial and ventricular ectopics, wouldI be able to tell without a monitor?

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply to Shcldavies

I did h ave a 24 hour monitor although the ECG at the Urgent care centre also showed them.

Shcldavies profile image
Shcldavies in reply to Qualipop

that explains it, can you feel the difference or are they so similar it’s not noticeable

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply to Shcldavies

For the first 2 weeks I couldn't feel anything at all. It was my BP machine that alerted me to them. 3rd week I was aware and felt decidedly off colour and breathless then they just reduced in number and stopped. No difference between the two . I have had ventricular ectopics for years 30 that come and go. Now I did feel those as thumps when I got the double beat. I was assured they were totally harmless so I just ignored them. Sometimes they'd last for an hour, sometimes for a couple of months. They never had any effect on me.

that’s good thank you

These things are so serendipitous that it’s hard to be sure what is connected to what. Certainly covid itself too often wreaks havoc with the heart.

I have, though, read of some interesting new research which hints at a possible a connection. It seems possible that some intramuscular injections are badly given badly and, instead of going into the muscle, a tiny amount makes its way into the blood stream where the mRNA attaches to various organ - in the heart and kidney especially. From there problems might arise but how serious isn’t known, I gather.

Steve

I totally agree with you, I had a similar experience. BP shot up for no reason after Covid. Very strange disease. I am at a point I don’t want to go anywhere with a lot of people. We are in winter where I am at so everything is closed up as far as fresh air is concerned. I did read that infrared lighting would kill it off but I don’t know the cost effectiveness of that for businesses and restaurants which seem to be struggling anyway.

I ended in the ER here in California within 72 hrs of Moderna booster w/ a fib off the charts. We aren’t allowed to post this on streams in the US (at least on Facebook a fib groups)

My cardiologist had me wear a zio patch for my subsequent boosters which were Pfizer. Nothing untoward happened!!

So I am fully boosted and had an ablation in May and decided that if the shot had that effect what would Covid have done?

Covid vaccine has had many, many bad effects. I won’t be having another. Not enough known about the long term effects.
