ABLATION PLUS 14 MONTHS PLUS COVID-19

Yesterday had a positive result from a Covid-19 test, good news is that my heart is still doing well, in fact far fewer ectopics than usual. For those following my posts you will know that since my ablation I have recovered well with just a few minor ectopics most days.

Been lucky with Covid19 symptoms (now 6th day in), just a bit sleepy and achy much like mild flu. Temperature appears to have subsided yesterday. Fingers crossed I keep up the recovery. Will keep you informed.

One thing worth knowing is that the Antibacterial hand wash and sanitising gel is no good for protecting against Covid 19 (though the act of rubbing your hands together does have some effect) - It has to be Antiviral hand wash and gel.

Hope you make a swift recovery, how did you manage to get tested? Please let us know how you progress.

Wishing you well.

Thank you, I got tested as my wife is a NHS nurse, she works in a ward that has Covid-19 patients, she also has Covid-19 (a day ahead of me). Annoyingly the day before the test we found out that the PPE being used in her ward was 4 years out of date, not sure of the effect that has but as of yesterday 6 other nurses either has the virus or are waiting test results. Long live our NHS, we really should look after them better.

I'm ashamed that NHS staff aren't being looked after better. We hear that businesses in our country have volunteered to supply PPE, but are now having to send it abroad as they've had no response from our government.

Hope you both sail through having the virus with no problems. How are feeling?

Jean

Yes shameful in deed, though I expect there to be some “spin” put on it. I don’t know why something as simple as procuring PPE from our own country from suppliers eager to help can be so difficult. Unfortunately all our politicians cannot help themselves playing their individual party politics to the detriment of our people. Unfortunately all political parties are the same in this respect.

We are coping much better than we expected just mild flu type symptoms that come and go, thankfully no breathing difficulties yet and hopefully will be out of the woods in a few days. Thankful for the mild symptoms and the heart behaving really well, don’t know which is the best! Every cloud! Stay safe

I actually believe that the appalling response to the need for PPE particularly in the care sector is deliberate. This government has no plan for social care anymore than the governments of the last decade and I believe they see it as expedient if lots of old people die. Then they can save on their pensions and having to care for them. The policy of sending back to care homes those infected with COVID but not sick enough to warrant a hospital bed , knowing that it was actually impossible to institute effective barrier nursing in these places due to lack of PPE and untrained personnel was breathtakeingly stupid ( or wicked or both). It is a variant of their herd immunity policy sneaked in by the back door.

Hmm, hadn't thought about that!

I was hoping this site wasn't going to be drawn into debating politics however relevant. There are so many stories doing the rounds that it's difficult to know what is correct especially as the media are focusing solely on the negative minute by minute. I wish everyone suffering AF the very best of luck getting through this awful crisis and will leave my own judgements till after it's all over. No offence intended 😊

Agree I said the same thing to my husband, after Valance talked about herd immunity, He was soon shouted down by eminent scientists (reported in Guardian and NYT) about how herd immunity works. Having watch in horror as the virus swept through Spanish nursing home it was inevitable it would happen here. I am too angry too watch the briefing they set my AF off! They’re bluster, bluster etc.

I'm guessing the government is still keen to collapse the nhs and sell it on the cheap to Trump as part of a trade deal (they aren't honouring their election pledge to remove it from the trade deal table). Actions speak louder than words when looking at the reality of any governments real intent.

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50 in reply to Goldfish7

I really hope not, but the governments actions certainly make you wonder. I tell you what there would be mass protests if they attempted to sell off the NHS!!!

Shcldavies profile image
Shcldavies in reply to jeanjeannie50

Please do not worry about the NHS no government would do that (now its not like me to stick ups for politicians but using language, spin and assumptions like them makes us no better - I have not replied to Goldfish7 or Auriculaire as I do not want to perpetuate a political discussion). I do think its wrong that they use this forum to further their political beliefs and frighten people.

For many years the NHS has been sourced from the US (this started under a Labour government) and it will continued do do so as long it get gets the best value for money, it is also sourced from many other countries again to achieve best value for money. Much of what we know as the NHS is outsourced right now to achieve best value for money - or in theory.

If everyone believed everything what Trump says is wrong I estimate they would be right 90% of the time.

Conservatives Labour Lib Dems all want to keep our NHS, they just try different ways of trying to make it work better (not sure if they have it right though). Its worth bearing in mind that whilst outsourcing is a Conservative concept, most outsourcing has been done under a Labour Government.

I am good, wife is taking a little longer but not too bad. Have been told that its not unusual to start getting worst after a few days of feeling good and I think she is in this period of the symptoms.

Rest and be thankful as they say. I know several people who have had similar experiences , one an airline pilot who caught it bringing stranded holiday makers home fromTenerife. He had used hand sanitizer as well but it did not contain alcohol.!

Shcldavies profile image

Thank you, rest is the only cure and so far it seems to be working. I think many are in a false sense of security with the antibacterial hand wash and sanitiser, thankfully the process of rubbing your hands together does make a difference.

How old are you? The act of rubbing your hands together is called friction and that's what supposedly kills the virus.

Shcldavies profile image
Shcldavies in reply to Dawsonmackay

I am 65, the problem with the gels and sanitisers are that people hold a false sense of security as many say on the bottle that it will sanitise your hands for x hours whilst in fact they do not protect you from any virus and it’s the act of rubbing that momentarily sanitises.

MS444 profile image

Plain old soap is has been described in many articles as dissolving the outer layer of the virus, thereby killing it.

I have heard from Dr friends if the virus is going to get worse it quite often happens in the second week. If you start feeling worse or have shortness of breath do not wait . There are a number of treatments that do help. The hospital my daughter works for is using the hydrochloroquin and a antibiotic with a lot of success.

From what I can gather keeping a watch on breathing rate and blood pressure are good indicators of low oxygen, thankfully both are good so far. Also found that an hour or so in the sunlight makes me feel better.

Good a lot of people are going to the hospital too late and it’s harder to treat then. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
