long haul covid and af

dear all

Some advice if you can.

Two years ago I had an ablation for my paf. Very successful.

I had covid at the very beginning and it put my heart all over place. I had all the symptoms and weak as a baby.it took me about 5 months to get over it but have never felt right.

So no Af for 2 lovely years. Seven weeks ago I has covid again. Thought that I had beaten it quick but no. The last 4 weeks terrible ectopic beats (not had them for 2 years) legs that don’t seem to belong to me, and terrible chest congestion with excess fluid/form production. Ended up in casually on Monday.

I believe that I am a long hauler.

Have any of you experienced these problems and what did you do? I want to get back to work and enjoy that life again

Thanks

Rod

Sounds like you need to speak to your doctor Rod and get that chest sorted.

BobI have seen the gp. Sputum no bacteria infection. X-ray clear. Long covid ‘ what can we do’ !. They have been helpful.

Rang the ep and they are helpful.

No anticoagulant and no verapamil. Is the advice from hospital.

I wanted to know how other long covid ears are ?

As always thank you Bob

Really difficult one Rod. Seems to be a year or so for some people. Thinking of you.

Try NAC -N acetyl cysteine - for the chest. It helps phlegm. It has also been looked into in America as a treatment for covid. It is a precursor for glutathione which is a major antioxydant in the body and is depleted by illness. Avoid Paracetamol - this depletes glutathione.

Isn't NAC a blood thinner? How much is safe to take?

It is but not sure whether it's anticoagulant or anti aggregant.

Is there a Long Covid Clinic near you? If so might be good to get in touch. My sister lives in Gosport and contacted in Portsmouth I think - though at the time of first lockdown all mainly done by phone.

Good morning I live in northern Scotland so no covid clinic here🥲

Wish there was

Have you had a CT or other scan to see whether the covid reached the parts other viruses fail to reach? My daughter-in-law's 38-yeard-old very healthy brother had a very mild illness with covid (delta) but had continuing slight back pain and this, it seems, is being caused by a small patch of affected cells at the base of one lung.

Hi there. My AF definitely worsened first time I had covid....couple years back. 2nd time (recent) not so much, luckily. My husband whose had long covid for 2years plus has recently started getting ectopics which his gp and consultant believe to be related to long covid. He's part of a support group and covid hub and this is pretty common it seems, anecdotally speaking. But also pretty random.

As far as I know most/ maybe all healthboards in UK have a long covid pathway., referred by gp. I think it's not classed as long covid until 12 weeks and depends on how much its impacting your life (my husband has been pretty debilitated)...but I might be out of date with my info so check it out in your locality. Good luck 👍🏻

Thank you Sad to hear about your husband.

Took me 4 months first time and hammered my Af. It is a horrible thing

People all over the world are having problems related to having had covid. And problems caused by the vaccines.

Really sorry to hear that Rod, especially since the ablation’s been so successful. Mum of a friend of my son affected by long Covid and as an ex nurse I seem to recall she was part of a group looking into this in Aberdeen. Not sure if it’s achieved anything or still going , I’ll try and find out. Take care

Rod, covid gave me afib and destroyed my life. It is a horrible virus created in an evil lab by a dictatorial regime. Unfortunately it is here to stay and touch many of our lives.

I can only recommend you to get antioxidant treatment as soon as possible. Please seek glutathione + vitamin C IV regular treatment as the earliest. It is an antioxidant treatment that is responding very well for long covid haulers. Also hyperbaric oxygen or normal oxygen therapy might suit you as well.
