Hi has anyone had there 4th covid jab and if so which one , and how did you feel after it .
covid injection : Hi has anyone had... - Atrial Fibrillati...
covid injection
Had my fourth earlierin the year with zero issues other than slightly sore arm. Got my fifth this afternoon so will report in a day or so.
I’m worried about having the Moderna booster as I had a bad reaction to the pfizer, had palpitations, and was diagnosed with P. Afib. I also reacted badly to the flu jab, very hyper and then my heart started racing for over an hour. My GP was aware of these effects. She said it’s because you get a fever, and recommended paracetamol. I am very susceptible to medications unfortunately
thank you
I have just had my autumn booster which was Phizer with a top of of anti Delta and anti Omnicron in it., or so they said when I asked. No problems. But you will not be able to choose which one you want in the uk .
I got my 5th booster a week ago along with my annual flu shot. Bit of a sore arm for a day or two but no other issues.
My 4th was Moderna and I felt a bit rough next day but soon passed off with paracetamol.
I was all set up for the 4th jab ,but then contracted covid,I had near enough no symptoms except a slightly raised hr and a sore throat, yet when i had my 3 previous jabs i had quite a few side effects that lasted a few days with each jab the side effects easing,so to my non medical logic it all kind of makes sense.
hi bee flower I too am concerned about 4th covid jab as I know several people who had blood clots after there covid jabs I’m not scaremongering but I thought afib increases your chances of getting blood clots so I’m really not sure weather or not to have my 4 jab since my diagnosis in November last year I am on thinners so will this rule out such a thing happening.
Cant comnent on this Dec60 exceot yo say I was diagnosed with P-Afib before covid and am noojed in for my 4th jab. No.probs to date. Surely the anti coags we take gives us protection agaibst that. Were these people who sadly had clots on anti coags at the time of their covid jabs?
That would be nice to know, though my guess is that I doubt it, or perhaps they were doses were too low. People think warfarin is a pain because of the testing, but my thought is, at least you know where you are as far as being anticoagulated.
There was an extremely low risk of clots after an Astra Zeneca jab (about 1 in 100,000 for first doses), so your friends' clots were almost certainly from other reasons. The Moderna and Pfizer jabs had no discernible effect on clots.
The risk of a clot after Covid is much higher - it is estimated that up to 20% of people hospitalised with Covid in the UK get clots - and there were 1,000 admissions a day last week and I guess that number is only going skywards. So your risk of a clot (and a lot else) is far, far higher if you do not get your 4th jab.
hard to compare
a) risk of clot for patient in hospital with Covid
a) healthy patient having a vaccine.
Need to ask oneself:
What is my personal risk of getting Covid?
What is my risk of getting it so badly that I’m in hospital ?
We now know much better how to prevent clots in hospitalised patients than we did at the beginning if the pandemic - so I feel risk of getting clot in hospital now, due to Covid, will bd reduced
It is a difficult dilemma for all, but need to look at personal risks.
Good luck.
I was told yesterday that the Moderna vaccine had caused a friend's daughter to be quite ill (no clots, of course, but feeling very rough for a few days) and that it was known to cause more side effects than Pfizer. Closer investigation revealed this was all hearsay and that the friend's daughter who had "reacted badly" actually has a chest infection needing antibiotics, rather than anything to do with the jab. These stories do spread easily.
But your information is far more disturbing. Did you mean that know people who had blood clots following their covid vaccination - or is this what you've heard or read? I know that the incidence of blood clots is vanishingly low in anyone over thirty and even then, it is truly a rare side effect, so I was surprised to read your post.
Also, not that it's much comfort, but the rare blood clots from the vaccine are completely unrelated to the kind of clots that occur in the atrial appendage.
Steve
That might have been hearsay. My sister had her 4th jab a fortnight ago - I think it was Moderna . She said she felt "horrendous" for a few days afterwards. My sister is a hard core covid vaccinophile and she said she doubt she will get any more! After her first booster she said she felt as ill as she did when she actually had covid - which she assured me was not as ill as she has felt in the past with various other respiratory infections.
Every one is different. My adult sons were both poorly with the first jab but not nearly as affected with the follow up ones. My next door neighbour.....now 80 isn't affected at all. I my self felt a bit poorly with first jab, & a off with second, third didn't notice a difference. Just had fourth so far am fine. No different than the flu jab .
Had it back in February - Moderna and felt dreadful with heart disturbances for about a week following.
About to have my 5th next week, hoping it will be the new half dose version.
Please keep us posted after your 5th jab CD and I wish you well there, Tom
To CDreamer, I have been offered Moderna too but am thinking twice about it because of reports of adverse side effects especially heart inflamation. I had second ablation in May and do not want to upset my heart with the jab. AFter two jabs and a booster I caught Covid in April. How did you cope with your heart disturbances? Drugs?
I had my 4th last Monday but the first time I’ve had Moderna. I was absolutely fine for the first 24 hrs then felt dreadful for the next 48hr, fever, hot and cold, headache etc. fine now again
I’m honestly not worried about the flu like after effects because it means the vaccine is provoking a response from the immune system, which is the whole point of having the vaccine ie to train the immune system to respond to the real deal.
We’re right to be wary of anything that might provoke an arrhythmia or palpitations of any kind. I feel the same, but it’s about our relative risks. We don’t have a zero risk of side effects. We don’t have a zero risk of catching Covid. We do have a greater risk of severe illness and death compared to people who don’t have Afib. If we’re older, as many people with AFib are, we are also at greater risk. If you’re 50/60/70+ with a heart condition, your risk profile is not the same as a 20 year old who is physically fit with no health issues. We all have personal autonomy over our health care decisions but we need to be realistic about our individual risk and make an informed choice.
I am all for vaccinations, and will have my autumn Covid/flu vax when called. However, I noted your remark “ we ( who have Afib ) do have a greater risk of serious illness and death if we catch Covid”. I asked my GP and cardiologist about this last year and they both said this wasn’t the case if Afib was your only medical problem, even if elderly ( I’m 71 now ). Apparently Covid can upset the heart rate/rhythm, as can many illnesses, even if you don’t have Afib, as illness stresses the body, but the medics said it was co-morbidities that were the greater risk. If you are at greater risk, you would be on a ‘more vulnerable’ list and be called for vaccination early.
I had my 4th jab last Friday (Moderna) and had severe palpitations yesterday. Also my skin, especially my back, has been a bit painful to touch. I'm not sure if the palpitations are because of the vaccine as I've recently changed medication, but it's possible.
Had a 5th jab, bivalent Pfizer. last week..
No significant side effects..
thank you
Got covid on the 13th Sept. So had the 'real thing' for my immune system so I won't bother with a booster this time !
Sorry to hear you’ve had covid Localad, but unfortunately having covid doesn’t make you immune to catching it again…I know people who’ve had it more than once. I think they advise to have another vaccine, even if you’ve had covid.
Agreed, Teresa, just like the vaccine doesn't stop one catching it. But the vaccines job is to produce antibodies and a dose of covid produces the same antibodies, (even a wider selection than the simple spike ones of the vaccine) so I'll stick with the real thing this time as I've had it so close to the coming winter covid round. That way I'll avoid the very slight chance of one of the vaccine's more serious potential side effects. Next year I'll have to reassess !
If you are at all hesitant, why bother? How you may react will be different to others. I haven't had covid and was reluctant to be vaccinated but had the fist two, as did my hubby who also hasn't had covid, hubby had an extreme reaction to his vaccines, we haven't bothered with the boosters. We aren't travelling on cruise ships and hopping on a plane to go overseas, maybe we would see it differently if that were the case. Stay safe.
The vaccines don't stop you catching it either. These new bivalent vaccines have not been tested for efficacy in clinical trials yet, though they are going to be - at the same time they are rolled out to populations not before. Trials were done in people for the original bivalents which targeted Omicron BA1 but as this has been superceded by BA4/ 5 there was not time to do more trials for the bivalents that are actually being rolled out which target BA4 /5. The only tests that have been done are on reactogenicity- ie how much antibody response they elicit. As there is not a reliable correlation between antibodies produced and protection from catching it this is inadequate. The protection from the vaccines is an inferior one to natural infection anyway as the vaccine only produces antibodies to the spike protein and not to the entire virus It was established in studies done in Israel in 2021 that natural infection gave better and longer lasting protection than vaccination. This has always been the case with more stable viruses like measles which do not mutate much. A measles infection will give you protection for life but the vaccine needs to be topped up. Faster mutating respiratory viruses are much more difficult to control with vaccines. What most people don't know is that like the covid vaccines flu vaccines also wear off in their protection. In some flu seasons the efficacy of a flu vaccine has gone down to zero by February and might even be negative ie you are more likely to catch it if you have been vaccinated. This also happened last year with the covid vaccines. A big study done in Sweden showed efficacy waning month by month to negative by 9 months. It is also important to wait after infection before getting the vaccine and under no circumstances to get it if there is any possibility you have covid as this makes the illness worse. My daughter came down with Omicron immediately after having had her first booster . She probably had it when she went for the jab but had no symptoms as she had been in contact with people who had it. She became much sicker than most people she knew who got it . The FDA website advises a 3 month wait and the advice is the same here in France.
Thanks Auriculaire - interesting as always and I can totally understand what you’re saying 😊 I know the vaccine doesn’t stop you catching it and I know it wears off very quickly, as does the flu jab. Again, I know others ( some of my relatives) who caught covid about 3 months after their last booster, but experienced a mild cold and shivers. I suppose, we will never know if it would have been worse, had they not had the vaccine. We all take our chances 😊
Wife and I had Moderna Spikevax last Thursday. No adverse reactions for me, wife had a mild fever a day after that quickly disappeared.
Pfizer for wife and I and we feel fine.
Regards Colin
Had my Pfizer booster on Sunday This was my 4th Pfizer, just a sore arm but no other issues.
last week I had my 4th Covid vaccination, first 2 were Astra Zeneca, 3rd & 4th Moderna. The latest one also included Omicron variations.
No effects from any of them.
Im in permanent AF and had my 4th which was Moderna and also my flu at the same time, one in each arm. No after effects at all.
I got the 5th (3rd booster) Pfizer Co-variant shot last week with very little reaction. Arm was much less sore than after #4.
yeah, fourth one last week, Pfizer, no problems, flu this afternoon!
I Had my 4th booked for next week, but gonna have to prospone it as I tested +ve yesterday 🤪
Had my 5th vaccine, Moderna, last week. No side effects at all, so flu jab next week hopefully.
Just had the Moderna booster and had a day of high fever and aching all over. By the end of day two this had eased - but as in the previous Pfizer three, no AF with it.
Had my 4th recently - all Pfizer. I'm in persistent AF & take 5mg apixoban daily. I had a flu jag at the same time.
After effects were a slightly sore arm for a couple of days, and a very vague fluey feeling the next day (didn't feel quite right, slightly shivery, but nothing to speak of)
Otherwise no problems and no discernible effect on my heart rhythm.
Had my 5th booster (Moderna) together with flu jab last week. Some aches and elevated temperature for 24+ hours, but consider this is a good sign the vaccines are working......
Had it 5 days ago. Had Moderna No reaction - not even a sore arm.
Hi, I got mine (with the flu one) week past Saturday in the morning, had the usual sort of response I've been getting very fluey, aching joints and muscles, very sore arm fever - chills / shivers / sweats (nothing at all like the firct oAZ one - almost called 111 - maybe even 999 for that) My mum had hers at the same time, completely different story for her - she had mixed dementia and many other co-morbidities, I thought she was going to have to be hospitalised on Sunday early morning when I went down due to no repsonse to any contact (without going in to detail I was not prepared for the attack to all of my senses when I arrived - in a bit of sorry state myself)- started on the Saturday night for her with her delirum / confusion and then got worse - new symptoms were then arriving every day, her immune sytem went into overdrive (she is immunosuppressed due to conditions / meds etc). She has never had any response whatsover to previous covid jabs, not even the sore arm (she gets a sore arm with flu one) not even last winter when she got flu at the same time (as she did on this occasion) ...... now 10-11 days on she is almost back to normal - but not quite, not sure if this lasting thing on the long list of symptoms will leave her sadly.
Had my 4th plus flu jab Saturday as did my wife. We both had sore arms and became a bit under the weather for 48 hours but ok now. I’ve got Stage 3 heart failure and permanent AF so at 75 glad it’s done - my HF nurse. positively encouraged it.
yes absolutely no problems
Got a mild Covid in May
Had fifth on Friday again nothing Flu one stung a bit though
hi. I had my 4th about a month ago. Moderna. I was soooo I’ll with it for almost a week. I’ve had covid 3 times and I was never so I’ll like I was with the jab. I won’t be having a fifth!
Mmm, I had flu like symptoms after the 3rd and went to bed, wasn’t right for a couple of days. I’m not sure if to have it or not as I’ve also T2D. I did catch it end of June
4th with Moderna Bivelant ( latest omicron variants) and like the previous jabs, zero issues.
I had a Moderna that was tweeked for Omicron. That’s what I was told when asked. 4th jab. 75 yrs old. NO problems at all.
I had the 4th which was the Moderna last week. No side effects apart from a very sore muscle in my arm where they jabbed me but okay after a couple of days or so. I had the flu jab 2 days before it and was bit worried about having the two so close together but all was okay.
I had 4th, Pfizer BioNTech on Saturday at same time as a Flu jab. Flu jab arm has been a bit sore but otherwise no other reactions 👍
Like Cat04 had the Moderna jab. Very sore arm and felt generally rough the next day but helped with paracetamol. Back to normal the day after.
Had the Moderna Spikevax exactly a week ago. My arm was v uncomfortable all week which is v unusual for me. Still getting the odd twinge and itch.
No obvious symptoms ( I was feverish for a couple of days with the previous booster) However, I did feel a bit short of breath … but that may just be my h hernia acting up!
I wasn’t going to bother as I’ve had all my jabs and had Covid twice - but off on holiday to Israel in 2 weeks so thought I would ensure I was fully up to date!
I had my autumn booster last week, it was the moderna, felt bloody awful for a couple of days!! My others were phizer and had no problem with them!!
Hi yes had 3 pfizer with no problems but the moderna set off my arrythmia as confirmed bt cardio nurse and a week of muzzy heads.
Just had my fifth on Saturday and am fine. First 3 were Pfizer and the last 2 Moderna. Apart from a bit of a sore arm no problems ever
Another thought for jabs and AFers......most AFers will be on an anti coag of some version . I did wonder if my edoxaban was a good shield last year when I got 2 x AZ (with its history of rare clotting side effects) ?
Just a thought.
Had mine about 3 months ago. Absolutely no effect on my permanent AF and other problems apart from aching arm for 12 hours. Definitely worth getting it done for the added protection. (age 76 and post stroke)
I have had my 5th two weeks ago. No after effects from any. Had flu jab last week too. Gwynne 79
I had Pzifer felt a bit tired 24hrs later and 2 days later sore arm but that’s all.
I’d heard that Moderna made people feel quite ill so said I didn’t want that one - I was told by a nurse there (Moderna and Pfizer are virtually identical, so much so that Pfizer are taking Moderna creators to court for copying makeup)
I don’t know if that is true though but thought I’d mention it
Had my 5 th Pfiser two weeks ago. I was worried as two of the first four put me into afib for many days with high heart rate, but I had no doubt I still wanted that jab. This time it was less severe but still had Afib off and on for about three days. Doctor said they are finding it not uncommon in afib patients. Annoying but still a no brainer for me.
Unfortunately, adverse effects of vaccines have been censored. People have not been reporting any problems to the regulators and when they did, they were ignored. Currently, too many vaccinated people have had adverse side effects and so that the information is now leaking out. Try to do your research with ALL sources and then make your decision. Most of the people who do the research have stopped getting booster shots based on the current information on vaccine side effects. They found the risk was not worth the reward.
I have heard the same! It is hard to find accurate information. There is definitely damage to many young men's hearts, and breast milk is being affected as well. Taking into account the new and proven advances in Covid treatments, i am taking a pass on more jabs. Many places worldwide are no longer requiring Covid passports. I think there are still too many questions to be answered. Time will tell.
Hi Beeflower, I had my fourth jab last month and felt unwell during the evening and next day with mild flu like symptoms. The following week my AF was a bit worse than usual. After a week I was feeling better and back to my recently controlled condition. Still glad I had the jab as who knows how I would feel if I caught covid. It's so individual and we have to make a decision based on our current situation. Best wishes
I have never had the COVID shot. I have had the 'vid twice, one year apart, both the original and the second variety. Survived both.
I just had my fifth Pfizer, which was the combo omicron/original covid vaccine, and felt perfect afterwards, with not even a sore arm! After reading yesterday that there is an 80+% increase in the chance of developing Alzheimers within a year of getting covid if you are 65 and over, it's more important than ever, I think to keep vaccinated.
I had my 4th Covid jab about 10 days ago - Moderna. I have paroxysmal AF and am on Apixaban - have had no side effects other than slightly sore arm of a couple of days
Might be worth asking them too, not covered by main stream media for some odd reason.
See link below, very scary:
I had 4th one end of April with 5th yesterday. It was Moderna with some omicron. On this first day I have no reactions apart from slightly stiff arm. Husband had covid in July. I had symptoms but tested negative. It could have been a false negative. Friends who had flu jab at same time had fever and aches next day. One friend who had covid in December said her reactions were worse than the actual illness that month.
Hi I’ve had the set, Astra Zeneca, Pfizer, Moderna & last week had the Moderna Bivalant, never had side effects (other than a slightly sore arm) with any of them!
I had my 5th Pfizer 2 weeks ago - no reaction at all other than a mildly sore arm for a day or so. I had my regular flu shot a week ago - no reaction with that either.
Hi
Had all 4.NZ. Pfizer or something.
No reaction except 3rd one registered nurse put it into a NERVE.
Big red itchy spot which I had to have antibiotics for.
Last one on 2 July 2022.
Been in contact once I know of outside. No reaction.
cheri Joy. 73 (NZ)
I take a banana take 1/2 before 1/2 after. Drink water before and after. MOVE.
Yes both of us had our fourth my wife had Moderna and I had Pfizer but I have also had Moderna in the previous injection cycle and my wife has had Pfizer, Moderna and Astra Zeneca. I had no problems with any of the 4 injections. My wife had Astra Zeneca as her first and was fatigued for around 24 to 36 hours and as she had the injection on a Friday afternoon with a wet and windy weekend following she had a lovely lazy weekend because of it . Since then with the Moderna and Pfizer she has had no problems. I didn't even have a sore arem with any of them and for one of them questioned if they had actually done anything - apparently this depends on the skill of the person giving the injection so we have always had skilled nurses/doctors giving us our injections - aren't we lucky. The nurse giving my wife her fourth injection asked which ones she had had previously and if she had had any problems and when she said she had had Astra Zeneca as her first injection and was fatigued afterwards the nurse said that the first injection was most likely to give side effects and as far as she knew Astra Zeneca was the most likely to cause this fatigue in her experience. Other than that no problems with AF or feeling at all under the weather and I don't personally know anyone who has had problems. Roll on the 5th injection - had my flu jab a week ago and never had any problems over the decades with that either.
I feel the same , I know a few people who have something wrong with there hearts can’t prove it’s the covid jabs though
I’ve had 6 Covid jabs now. (Overachiever! 😂) All moderna. The most recent one was the new bivalent one. I’d had strong reactions to the others, but not much of anything to this last one. Just tired for about 12 hours.
