Surgery pharmacist rang me about 6 weeks ago & said would like to do weight & blood test check for Edoxaban monitoring.Have been on it 5 years & never had specific tests but I do have everything checked yearly.Part of me wonders are they finding anticoagulants are effecting kidneys. My Online research doesn't find much Specific evidence.More relating to AF & ACs.
Anyway even after retest Urea level is 9.00 mmol/l range should be 2.5 - 7 .8.
Creatin 77 mmol/l.
any experience with this & should I be concerned.

I don’t think so kkatz, it’s more commonly known now, but a while ago no many people (including some surgeries) realised that people who are on DOAC’s should have regular blood tests to check their kidney function. It is featured in the NICE guidelines and I’ve added a link. As I understand it, the reason is that the unwanted chemicals leave the body via the kidneys so if they are not functioning correctly, there can be a build up chemicals which could cause a potential problem. I’m not medically trained but as I understand it, there is no evidence to suggest that DOACs can have a detrimental effect to the kidneys. As you get older and if you are below a certain weight, doses should also be reduced.
