Just a not so quick update on my ablation. First, thank you all for your moral support leading up to this, not sure I would have been in a fit state without you all.
Well, the best news is that I am still here! No apparent mishaps and feeling ok. I was sent home the same night so all good.
I don’t feel any worse for having a GA rather than sedation to be honest and I really appreciated closing my eyes and waking up when it was all over.
My new EP opted for initial cryoablation to better ensure re isolation of pulmonary veins. However, as I had also been having tachycardia and flutter he may have to go back in to do mapping and further ablate with RF if necessary. I knew all this so am prepared. It depends on whether the AF is triggering other arrhythmias or other way round. I have an appointment in 3 weeks to check on progress. Sotalol reduced from 120 x2 to 80x2.
So far having lots of on /off AF but had 6 hours in blessed NSR this morning which I havnt been in 8 weeks so hopefully a good sign. Also no flutter or tachycardia.
All in all a much much better experience than previously and I do feel looked after.
If you made it to the end of this…. We’ll done!
I’m only lifting the TV remote and my kindle Bob I promise.

Thank you. Lilypocket and I messaged this morning before her ablation. It will be good to compare notes. I am being really good and doing nothing which I find really hard usually but I must admit to feeling very tired.
Lots of odd rhythms at the moment as well as time in precious NSR but I am resigned to being super patient. X
Hi again JaneGreat you are feeling so much better - baby steps . I agree thank goodness for this forum. My EP is very nice but his attitude is quietly confident and doesn't think I' ll be back. Didn't even fix another appointement and told me to stop all meds. Nothing about recuperation either. I feel like a trapeze artist without a safety net lol.
Still in NSR but trying to get used to a resting HR of 75/80 instead of 55/60 after years of Bisoprolol. But thanks to Bob, Jean, PottyP, Flapjack , Cdreamer et al I'm well-armed.
Your EP seems to be looking at everything from all angles and solutions and I feel he will get it sorted for you.
Lets PM each other in a couple of days to compare notes.
Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Unfortunately NSR has completely disappeared to be replaced by all sorts of odd rhythms! Still, onwards and upwards and patience! Migraine aura just arrived too. Thank goodness for this forum and knowledge!X
