Hi all, quick update out yesterday and feeling good just a little sore.
After speaking with Stephen Murray at Freeman Hospital yesterday thought this might be interesting to mention. Thought I'd add this in as maybe Bob or some of the others who know much more than I do about procedures etc might know more, so her goes, his post op notes read
"Cryo PVI at start of procedure all 4 veins isolated. No phrenic damage (paced) acQmap revealed drives on anterior and posterior wall - no traditional lines done, all lesions anchored to MV ring or PVI margin, stable Rythm mapped to the right atrium behaving as atrial flutter, a CTI line abrupt termination to sinus Rythrm with bi directional block . This has been an accutely successful op "
In his words he did more work than usual with other studies and the new acQmap being more accurate it was easier to restore sinus, loved his" accutely successful procedure" I do so hope it is .
He came for a chat before I left yesterday apologising for such a long op dahin how well it all went etc , then asks was it OK to show the video they made during the Op in America next month at a big convention, so my hearts going on the big screen, always knew I'd make it π.
Feel real good since the op, quick recovery and soreness is going today, just resting in bed as ordered by good people here, though DR Murray did say you can have a "walk" day after and get back to your thing in a few days, I do tell him I am heeding other advise from previous patients and resting a good few weeks, don't want to undo the good work it seems to be so far he just smiled and said true we don't see you until 3 months so do what you feel comfortable and don't over do it.
So far normal sinus, feel great, no bumps or lumps yet, guess thats yet to come with healing but worth it in the end , catheter wound area is looking good, not sore and overall I really am feeling good. Thanks so much for all the kind comments on my previous post I think I answered everyone, sorry if I missed anyone.
Looking forward to getting the next weeks out of the way and enjoying my royaltys from Netflix ππ

Well done you, what an outcome and what a medic by the sound of him. The big screen here you come, hope you are getting a fat fee and royalties for your performance. X
Thanks MF, actually bored today feeling so normal , who would think it two days after, but still heeding wise words in here and bedresting , amazing procedure and can't speak highly enough of them, notes on back of letter made me chuckle this morning "resume normal exercise today (Thurs), manikini is hung up for now though, and get my heart! , a medical Oscar all of its own π· π x
So pleased to hear that all went well Ian. Make the most of your few minutes of fame and be sure to tell everyone, just to let them know they're talking to a star. Lol.
You're staying in bed? I think that may be a bit OTT, you just have to rest and you can do that sat in a comfortable chair in the lounge. Just don't exert yourself in any way for the first week or two. No mowing the lawn.
Wonderful news. I hope your recovery is good. Pleased to hear about your 15 minutes of fame! Mine had a tinge of regret about it. I was asked by Help 4 Heroes whether they could use a picture of me fundraising in their 2018 Annual Report. When the magazine came I searched and searched and eventually found me in the bottom corner on the last page before the back cover! I hope yours is more dominant!
Hi becks, doubt itl be that important, just sounded like with him doing something different , whatever it was, was of a little interest to show I guess, that's cool with getting a pic for help 4 hero's, very worthy cause.
Glad you're feeling so well. I was too after mine (6weeks ago now).
I didn't confine myself to bed. But spent first couple of days doing very little. I got visual aura a few times in the first week then it settled. I was back at work in 3weeks (I'm part time so not a stressful job) and am in Ireland this weekend visiting my daughter. She is riding a race horse tomorrow in a charity race so that will be a challenge for the old heart. π±
Anyway good to hear you're doing well and I hope you have a blip free recovery.
Sounds like your doing fantastic Amanda. Would be good to see a copy think I'm might ask DR Murray for a copy see what he says. I just felt drained yesterday after coming out the afternoon before, so spent most of day sleeping and had loads of stairs so just had a day in bed sleeping mostly . Up and about today downstairs just taking it easy but feeling OK. Think getting on with it like you have is the way, I'm stubborn as hell so hopefully thatl help once the resting is out of the way, thanks Amanda.
Yes take it easy and just see how you go. I didn't have the same procedure as you of course just RF of the PVI (don't we sound technical!). But I think it's a good sign you're feeling well from the off.
Thanks Ian I've been waiting since last July so hopefully just another couple of months....this will be my second ablation so hopefully the new mapping system will help it work this time.
Yea won't be long I bet, Hope it goes well for you, and as for the sedation honestly I've recovered so quick and it's not such an ordeal as you think , I would do it again without a worry.
Well done Iβm so pleased for you. Your EP sounds great. When I had my ablation my EP didnβt even come out of the op room with me and I never saw him again except when I went for my 3 month check up and saw the registrar and I asked to see him as he was in the next room. I still donβt know what they did or anything, so again Iβm really pleased for you. Stay well
Thank you, yea he's a hands on type of surgeon seems to me, came onto ward day after see me before I went home and chatted for ten mins about the procedure, recording it etc.etc, and how well the outcome was. Early days but even if its not 100% can't fault his conviction and patient care.
Wow , so good to hear that , my svt ablation is set for the 20th of this month at the BMI in Cheshire, fingers crossed it goes as well as yours and I can get my life back ! All the sunshine in Portugal is no good to me with my heart playing up ! Good luck and best wishes with a good recovery ! Ian in the medical profession so was good to read all the details , very reassuring! Will report back after my procedure ,
Still going good so far, I'm Missing Portugal and soon as I'm well enough to go it's on the agenda for another holiday trip . The 20th isn't far off now I hope you get a good result I'm sure you will. You probably understand a lot more of the detail than me being in the medical profession, look forward to hearing your success after op which am sure will be soon.
I'm so happy that all went well! That wonderful news. Glad your heading the warnings of not over doing things. Please let us know how things are with you!
