My EP has slotted me in tomorrow as the meds aren’t regulating my afib / a flutter and general atrial tachycardia (this is what the EP calls it)... so rate has been over 100 for the last 4 weeks - peaking at 180. Even with digoxin 500 x 2 and metoprolol and Bisoprolol...
I’ve also had food poison or viral gastroenteritis which made the situation worse - spent 2 separate days in resus in a&e.
I just wanted to thank everyone on this site for your honest sharing of experiences ... I feel so much more informed and ready for this!
I’m having a general anaesthetic and staying in for a night - also having a TOE as part of the procedure. That’s all I know at the moment.
I know that recovery is so different for everyone so I’m going to just try and take each day as it comes.
I’ll send another post once it’s been done.
😊

Hi ... ablation went well and thank goodness my EP decided on a general aesthetic as the cath lab was very daunting! The team were great - friendly and informative.
My wounds have been trouble free! Which I’m so pleased about.
But they had to keep me in for an extra night as heart rate went into erratic overdrive by mid day after the ablation at 130bpm and it wasn’t settling. The EP started me on flecainide which has helped regulate but he wanted me on 100mg x 2 but that wasn’t making me feel too good so I’m on 50mg x 2. I’m also still on Apixaban 5mg x 2 and for the first month I have to take lansoprazole to protect my oesophagus.
I had a really bad night last night with terrible breathlessness and a bad headache. I couldn’t stop the breathlessness and had to put the fan on me to get more air ... quite scary!
But today breathlessness is not as severe ... and I’m doing absolutely nothing except rest, and sleep.
Hoping things continue to improve as I can’t take too much time off work as I’m not an employee ...
Hi everyone... thank you for your lovely comments.
I’m still in afib which I’m hoping will settle down. Taking flecainide 50 x 2 and also Bisoprolol 2.5 isn’t calming things down ... just waiting for EP to decide what to do next.
I’ve been resting and haven’t left the house yet ... afib is roughly 125 while resting... but it’s so all over the place that it rises to 150/160.
I’m hoping it will all settle down...
The breathlessness has really improved and I have no other pain ...
