Ectopics after Covid

Hi.... I eventually caught Covid..... not too badly.... and appeared to recover almost fully after a week to 10 days. Just a bit of a dry throat in the aftermath. However, I now seem to be getting a lot of ectopics on a daily basis. Anyone else suffering in that way? Maybe I should have taken it easy for a bit longer, but I was so keen to get back up to speed energy wise.... especially in the nicer weather!!

Any inflammation will upset your heart and COVID causes inflammation. Ectopics and other niggles seem to be quite common with and after COVID. It’s on the Zoe App symptom list.

It took about 4-6 weeks for my heart to settle completely so keep well hydrated and get plenty of rest as I do think that we need to relearn how to recover and heal after these infections, we often expect too much of ourselves.

Thanks CD.... I am sure you are right. I was just a bit worried that AF might be back... especially as I had read it was a common after effect for sufferers last year. Think the main symptoms disappeared so quickly that I thought I was totally better. Glad that your ticker has settled down now. I shall just have to slow down a bit on the gardening!!

I went into AFlutter/AF on Easter Monday & then took a covid test on Tuesday which was positive. Taken into hosp on the following Friday, 3 days on covid isolation ward and then discharged home for f/up in outpatients. Still in AF now despite increase in bisoprolol & starting on digoxin. It may be a long wait for follow up! Covid was just a runny nose and a slight cough first thing in the morning but the continuing arrhythmias are horible.

Sorry to hear that. I’m afraid any infection can irritate the heart and stopping them is much harder. COVID has a lot to answer for.

The consultant wouldn't say that there was any connection between arrhythmias & covid!!

Just means he can’t say for sure & it’s not been shown to have cause and effect. But inflammation has been shown to be a cause.

My afib was really exacerbated by covid. Got it in January and still hasn't settled.

The only time my holter monitor picked up afib was when I was, coincidentally, suffering from a relatively short term virus! Anecdotal evidence obviously. But I think viral tiredness is also a factor...
