More ectopics after second AZ vaccine.

After my first AZ jab, I had a rapid heart beat and ectopics which eventually settled down after a couple of weeks. After the second jab (about ten days ago) there were initially no ectopics, but they reappeared a few days ago. The heart rate is not fast as it was before. Roughly one ectopic every 5-10 minutes with a heart beat that feels a bit “heavier” than normal. Has anyone experience anything like this, and did the ectopics eventually settle?

I have had exactly the same after the AZ vaccine. Still got ectopics going on now nearly two weeks after second jab, lasted three weeks after the first one, they started within hours of the first jab but later after the second,

The nurse at the vaccination centre was loath to give me the second jab and said i should have asked my GP about having it and to report it via the yellow card system as any event needs recording.

I wont take an AZ booster if boosters are needed in the autumn but would consider another type of vaccine, hope things settle for you very soon.

Thanks. I agree about having an alternative vaccine if there is a booster. Let’s hope the ectopics eventually settle!

No. Jab number 1 caused niggling headache for three days. Jab number ,2 had no side effects. Both jabs were AZ.

I had similar after the Pfitzer. 3 weeks since the 2nd jab and only just settling.

Good news that it is at least settling.

Not from the jab but I get loads of ectopic. Having a bug makes them worse for me.

Hi SamI had a few days of ectopics about 4 days after my first AZ jab, just in the evenings. They settled and it didn’t happen after my second jab.

Yep. Lots of ectopics after the first jab and now my first afib bout in 4 months a few days after having the second jab.

in reply toBarny12

How long is your average interval between bouts of PAF? It’s posdible this was a coincidence.

My bouts of afib are usually around every 3 months. It could well be coincidence but my heart felt irritated/irritable after the first jab for several weeks and feels the same way now after the second.

in reply toBarny12

I have about the same interval between episodes. I have just spoken to a GP who said that he “hadn’t heard” of AF or palpitations following the vaccine. I’ve been advised to send in some Kardia readings ha when I get the ectopics, but annoyingly they usually fail to appear when I take a reading He said that if the ectopics were in “runs” they could be AF, but if they are isolated (I get one every 5-10 minutes) they are not consequential.

Yes been in afib almost ever since - what is the yellow card?

in reply tolmoore

You can report side effects online, I believe. I think this goes to the manufacturer via the NHS (but I might be wrong).

The yellow card system is used in the UK to report side effects from any drug/ medicine. My understanding was that people having the Covid jab should be advised of this. Especially as the vaccines are still technically in trial status.

I was abblated 6 years ago and have been great but after my 2nd Pfizer last Thursday it's gone a bit haywire. Plus I had a lot of indigestion. I've an app on my phone for AF which I check now and then it showed I was in it over the weekend and it felt like. It's a lot better today but there's still lumps and bumps. I assume these are ectopics

in reply to11ellis

I just spoke to a GP who said that if they appear in runs they could be AF. If they are isolated they aren’t significant. I find they are most noticeable when sitting, lying on my back or when getting up from a sitting position.

I had my second Astra zenica jab recently and did notice quite a few ectopics 2 days later, then 4 days after I Got a 10 minute AFIB episode in bed and it self terminated and I went straight back into sinus. I also had a heavy head throughout this time. Not headache as such but something similar if that makes sense.? I haven’t had any a-fib or ectopics for nearly a year so it may just be coincidence I don’t know.? But it did make me wonder.???

I seemed to be ok after the first. After the second A few hours later I got 20 hours of AF and then again 2 days later. It may have been coincidence but I feel it could have been connected

I suppose it depends on how often you generally get AF. If it’s very infrequent and/or of short duration then it’s more likely that on this occasion it was the vaccine. Both the AZ and Pfizer seem to be implicated. Let’s hope that if it is the vaccine that things settle down.

I got my second AZ on Tuesday. Woke up last night in AFib, after having a swollen face and lips on Tuesday night and yesterday. I’d the sore arm after first dose, nothing else. So some sort of allergic response, probably to the additives/preservatives in the vax, and my immune system is responding! I’ve often heard of people getting an AFib episode when they have a flu or other virus (anecdotedly), so there’s a logic there.

I got the Moderna vaccine in February. Next day I was in AFIB for 17 hours. Asked my primary if I should have my second vaccine. He said I should. With my second vaccine only minor symptoms, no AFIB. A month later, woke up from sleep in Afib, lasted only 8 hours. After another 4 weeks, in Afib for 24 hours. Since 2006, I’ve only had AFIB one to three episodes per year. According to my pattern I should not have another episode this year. I have 6 months to go, unless the vaccine weakened my heart muscles. It’s wait and see for me.

I have had ectopics all day long from day 2 following my first AZ jab.l am now in week 6 ,l have spoken to a cardiologist and they said it is normal to get palpitations after the jab as it’s just like having a viral illness but that they would have expected it to stop by now. I am also still getting random muscle twitches in my body that started day 2 as well. They have done an ECG to exclude inflammation of the heart and l a due to have a 24 hr monitor although not for 6 weeks due to waiting lists. As far as second jab goes they said it’s up to me as they can’t advise however they did emphasis that no blame would be attached to me whatever descisionl made.

Please ,please, report your symptoms on the MHRA yellow card scheme.lts easy to do online. If no one ever reports they won’t get a true picture of what is going on.

Understandably l don’t know what to do about my second jab now and obviously l feel a lot more vulnerable to covid now my heart has been messed up.The consultant did say l was to consider myself as if l had had covid.

They don’t say that on the advice sheet they give you before the jab do they?Abit ironic that l had the jab as l was concerned more about getting long term disability from covid than death and that’s actually what the jabs done for me any way.

The consultant didn’t rule out improvement at some point in the future but can’t guarantee it.l am gutted to say the least and have had some very dark thoughts over the last few weeks. My 18 year old daughter is going for her jab in 2 weeks time and l am sick with worry.Although she won’t be getting the AZ.

I’m really sorry if this puts any off having a jab l think my reaction is not usual. My husband had absolutely no symptoms at all from his,not even a sore arm.So just like covid where some people die and some people are a symptomatic.

Mine have settled down a bit, but I am more prone to them than before I think. I wonder if you could ask for a different second jab? Of course, this might not be effective, but a GP told me that they were experimenting with mixing different types of vaccine.

Yes l have wondered about a different 2nd one. I am awaiting the com cov ,l think it’s called ,study results on vaccine mixing with bated breath because if there is a combination that gives paticularly good immunity at least it would be worth a try.At the moment l feel that lve suffered a lot of side effects for not as good immunity .l was also ill for 2 weeks with a flu like illness post jab as well as the persistent ectopics so l think l am understandably reluctant to put myself through all of that again if these ectopics don’t settle by the time l am due my next jab.
