Hi All. Had a cryo ablation 7 months ago. All fine apart from one episode early December. Yesterday I sat down after a large meal and started feeling palpitations and that feeling when af is gonna start. But my watch showed no af and after 5 mins I felt fine again. 1st time this has happened.

Most likely the result of a large meal impacting on the digestive system via the vagal nerve. For many on this forum it's a common experience. The vagal nerve connection is well known but seldom properly understand. Think of it as part of the nervous system, like an information superhighway between brain, heart and digestive system. Was the meal at night? Maybe early evening, later than normal?

Cheers normal time 7pm ish. I did over eat tbh and was stuffed. This has never happened to me before in 10 years plus of af. Will be careful next time

Be aware that eating small and earlier than 7pm could well resolve the problem. I drive buses and if I am on a late ish finish, say 7.30 pm to 8 pm then I just east small and light particularly if I have to be in bed by 10 pm for an early ish start next day.

As I'm sure you know, palpitations just means that a person is aware of their heart beating. If you had an overly large meal then your stomach will have been pushed up so restricting the space taken up by your heart so you will feel it. The solution is simple.

Over the years I too have often experienced palpitations after eating a meal.
