I have AF and all is good at the moment with medication. However I work in a large school (still open) with 360 pupils and 80 staff. Does this make me high risk? should I still be going to work? I cannot see any answers on the NHS website for help or if I should stay home or just see if I pick up anything! Thanks for any replies.

AF v Coronavirus
The problem is that members of the forum are really unable to offer specific advice on issues concerning the virus because we only know what is already in the public domain. All we can suggest is that you scroll back over the earlier posts regarding Coronavirus to see if there is anything there that will help you. Things change, almost by the hour, but lone AF is not believed to be a high risk factor but this would probably change if you have other related conditions. Given your age (featured in your profile) the school might feel that you should not be working and from what we are hearing this evening, schools might soon be closing anyway........
Thank you for you reply
I read an article in the Guardian yesterday which quoted an Italian doctor re underlying conditions which worsened covid outcomes and atrial fibrillation was one of them.
Yes, I saw that to.....it’s one of the reasons why I’m reluctant to comment because views and opinions change so quickly.
The original post from Admin about eight days ago did say that lone AF does not present any additional risk . Co morbidities such as diebetes, heart failure obestity etc do add risk.
Please see jhcoop55’s post above. I’m not medically qualified to give advice but personally know how this virus would affect me. I’m well controlled with my meds but it doesn’t take much to cause upset. This virus at best causes a cough and breathing difficulties and would for me trigger my AF. I’m also over 70 so I’ve been socially distancing for several days now. Do take care and stay as safe as you can. x
Thank you that really helped. I think I just feel guilty about not going to work when I'm not ill! Time to sort the garden I think!
I don't think you should feel guilty in the slightest, we all need to do whatever is right for us and our health . I have closed my business until this situation clears . I will be living on a shoestring but nothing can replace our health and wellbeing.
Apart from walking the dog I am not going anywhere. Paranoid maybe but not taking the risk.
Enjoy your garden 🙂
Hi shirljo im like u and work in a school and feel guilty about avin time off even though i had an ablation 3 weeks ago, i started back at work on tue but i feel so unsafe being there, the school are leaving it in my hands on weather to decide to stay at home or not but the worse this virus gets the more im leaning towards just staying at home.
Just made my decision earlier today and phoned in to say I won't be in for a while - looking after ME at last. Looks like it will be out of our hands soon anyway. take care x
