Raised Liver Enzymes

Hi everyone

I have recently had blood tests done which are done annually.

My liver enzymes count was much higher and the only new medication in the last year has been rivaroxaban and my lifestyle is unchanged.

Has anyone else found this with this drug please?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

Not on it myself but I do believe the liver filters this drug out which is why these annual checks are needed.

Same happened to a friend of mine but they were taking it in the morning, with very little food. Advice is to take with ‘a substantial meal’. They swapped to taking with their main meal, got retested 6 weeks later & all had returned to normal levels. Evidently Rivaroxaban needs protein & fat to be absorbed fully, when not it’s left to the liver to filter out what has not been absorbed.

Personally I take Apixaban - x2 daily instead of one bd but fewer side effects.

Thanks very much for the information CDreamerI have requested a change in anticoagulant so let’s see.

I have been taking my Rivaroxanan last thing at night so I will try with food.

Appreciate the info👍

Best off Riveroxaban according to my cardiologist and Apixaban appears to be the best from comments here but your health authority may not give you a free choice.

Hi

I'm not on River.... but I am on. Synthroid for a throidectomy plus, Diltiazem, Bisoprolol, PRADAXA 110mg x twice (reduced in December) and Anorastatin 10mg daily.

My kidney function is falling.

But since taking drugs for pain after oprtation re Removal of TVT Surgical Mesh Removal (Johnson & Johnson product) I have a white swirl in my urine. I suspect it is protein.

No infection found.

Also I forgot I am on Doxycyckine 100 mg daily.
