aFib and the jab

Interesting correlation: I just had my 6-month pacemaker interrogation appointment. The data shows that I hadn’t had any “events” since 2017, but it started showing several aFib episodes beginning September 28, 2021….the EXACT date of my first and only Pfizer COVID vax.

Have you had COVID? I have - not a nice experience and plenty of AF with it. Had 4 vaccines and was certainly wiped out by the 4th which was my only Moderna vac, but no AF. Everyone reacts very differently and believe me, if suffering a few AF episodes is the price for preventing serious long term illness or even death from this virus - definately worth it in my book.

If your immune system was provoked by the vac, which it was meant to be, caused inflammation then your heart may have reacted.

Unfortunately you will never know for certain, there maybe a correlation but AF is so unpredictable and doesn’t need a lot of encouragement to return.

Hope things settle for you.

I am part of CLL Healthunlocked group but experienced tachycardia and afib for 3 weeks after first moderna shot, second shot same and after booster 6 weeks of afib.

It is a strange correlation for sure. I had 40 events after just my one jab. I’m glad I didn’t fall for the pressure to get more. I’m sorry you are going through all of that as well.

Yes, we are all different for sure! I have not had COVID, and I’m sorry that you went through that. I received my only jab because I watched my brother suffer horribly. I hope things are going well for you now.

Sorry your brother suffered,. Yes thank you, I recovered well. It's such a testing time for us all.

Hi Hall.

Again I can only talk from personal experience. I have the 3 jabs and not a problem with them. We are all different though. I wonder if stress and worry about the jabs might have set off your afib ? Who knows.

I could post some links - but I won't. Nothing bad but you might worry more. You'll be ok I feel.

Have a great week and don't worry to much.

All best,

Paul

Oh, I don’t stress anymore. I research and pray before making my decisions. I felt relaxed and confident about getting that jab, but I never felt as if I should get another one—in spite of my primary doctor’s pressure. That was in September, and I just received my pacemaker interrogation this month, and my retirement has been fabulous for my sense of peace and calm. It was just a very strange connection to my onslaught (40) of events after four years of absolutely nothing. Just very, very interesting to me, but I absolutely protect everyone’s right to make that choice on their own research and decision-making skills. I am so very, very happy for you! You have the best of both worlds: protection from COVID and no aFib events. Stay healthy! Thank you for your thoughts.

It's a great pleasure Hall to be able to help. It sounds like you have a 'higher power' to guide you. I don't know what to make of that but we all have our own take on that one. I am by the way in afib all the time. I'll deal with it but it's hard work.Hey there are worse things that can happen.

I had a history of fast AFib and was severely symptomatic. Had an ablation a year ago and did well until I had my second jab in summer. Then the shortness of breath started right away and a few months later I had the worst AF episode ever. Ended up in emergency and I was out of country. (Still working on insurance on that one. ) My electrophysiologist and cardiologist have consulted and I have a deferral from any booster.I had a variant in Jan-Feb of this year and have recovered. I 'm glad to have some natural immunity.

Wow!! I’m so sorry that you had such a horrible reaction. I, too, had a successful ablation until the jab. I’m so glad you got a deferral!

Mum had no history of AFib prior to the Moderna jab. She had AFib episode during the first and second shot. We didn't know it's AFib until later when we went to doctors for investigation. We did a report to VAERS but no response from them.

Now she has to live with it and I feel responsible because I was the one who insisted to get the jab.

I'm no good either. I developed heart complications after the second jab and I'm on beta-blockers ever since (no history of heart problems before).

Oh 😢 I am so sorry for both of you. I am hoping that the reports to VAERS will at least result in the awareness for others to make more knowledgeable decisions regarding health choices. Obviously (according to the comments on my post), the jabs don’t effect everyone the same way, but for some of us it is a definite deterrent. I am truly sorry for both you and your mother. Take care of each other.

Thank you for your kind words.

About your AFib episodes, are you taking any Magnesium supplement ?

And how is your level of Potassium ?

If you can do some blood work to get a reading on those and give the results to your doctor.

Take action even if the results are in the green but in the lower part of the reference interval.

Supplements can help but don't expect to do wonders.

Stay safe!

I’m not taking any magnesium and I’m not sure what I’d take. My potassium level is 4.0 on a 3.5-5.5 range. I can talk to my doctor about that. Thanks for the thoughts.

I've had all three jabs and not a single sympton.

Being 76 I look forward to my 4th jab. I've had 2 AZO and 1 Pfizer so far, without any reactions. I have stayed free of Covid.

hi hallju id say when the data is collected at the end of first 12-18 months heart problems will be more prevalent in society, there are a lot of sports people that seem to be collapsing ,and locally i know of a few , who were healthy and young and the only thing different was the experimental jab, everyone has the right to take the jab if they want , but they should also know the risks involved, no im not anti anything , just in case someone jumps on me .

Hallju profile image
Hallju in reply to Tomred

LOL! I know what you mean about being jumped on. I agree 100%! I’m definitely not “anti” either. I just want to know all the facts before I make a decision and think others should too. I have noticed a lot of heart issues in the news and anecdotally as well. My own niece dropped dead at 41 with a heart attack after her first jab and no known heart problems. Who knows if it was that or something else, but knowledge is power.

sorry to hear about your niece ,my sister is in hospital at moment with heart issues shortly after booster also , but its going to be hard to pinpoint.

I can understand your concern. It's hard to ignore what could be a coincidence or not. I know I felt bad after my second jab and booster. Likely experiencing some afib at the time just from being nervous and feeling bad. After two days of feeling bad from my booster, woke up and felt great. Until I shortly thereafter had a massive stroke. Coincidence? Who knows. I had a small stroke years earlier before Covid, so likely just afib induced again. But, not planning on anymore Covid boosters.

Hallju profile image
Hallju in reply to theohappy

Wow!! I’m so sorry that you have had to deal with that. That’s my concern about pushing the jabs and boosters. We just don’t know yet was is or is not a coincidence. Take care of yourself!
